OMG...It's a Sin

Apparently one of Pet shop Boys' biggest hits, 'It's a Sin' is a remake of an old song 'Wild World' by Maxi Priest.

Do you believe it?

Cylob 12th March 2004 14:00

No........I...........don't!!!

That is shocking Triton.:(

Triton4 14th March 2004 07:00

Doesn't involve much of a discussion I see...

Papillon 14th March 2004 10:19

Well actually.....

"Wild World" is not Maxi Priest's song. It was written by Yusuf Islam a.k.a. Cat Stevens.

Triton4 14th March 2004 11:19

You're right, in fact Wild world was a verbatim copy of that written by Cat Stevens.

Now there's another spin to the tale :D

ShyShy 17th March 2004 02:12

Wow... that's actually pretty interesting :D

It'll take days just to get over the initial shock.

I always thought it was penned by Tennant and Lowe...... The world will never be quite the same again. You bastard Triton!

marvinbarcelona 17th March 2004 22:07

Round of applause for Triton4! Sorry Cylob, but I really hate Pet Shop Boys.

Cylob 18th March 2004 07:33

That's okay marvin, I hate Pet Sounds.:D

marvinbarcelona 18th March 2004 19:07

See, thats just blasphemous!

/sticks pins in voodoo doll of Cylob

NJK 18th March 2004 19:25

into the ocult ? marvin you disapoint me - a man with a great taste in music sticking pins into vodoo dolls?

if I was a doctor i would say - go flat on your back somewhere between the speakers of your home stereoset - put on an Albert King album and just close your eyes and listen to the wonderfull sound of the blues.

but I am not so - let's all honour marvin by playing a Pet shop boys track for him - me playing "rent" my fav pet shop boys track

btw ( sidenote - @ Marvin I do like the beach boys and think that Petsounds is a very great album and it was this album that made others go into music)

marvinbarcelona 18th March 2004 20:24

spaceplay, nah. Not in a blues kinda mood. Listening to Charlie Parker - Legendary Savoy Sessions.....beautiful, utterly beautiful.

ShyShy 26th March 2004 05:32

Sooo off topic, but, just had to say that I love your sig line, marv :D:up: Heheheheh...

Cylob 26th March 2004 05:52

If Brian (Wilson?) of the Beach Boys didn't actually write Pet Sounds to copy the revolutionary Sgt. Pepper and the Lonely Hearts Club Band, I'd almost be inclined to believe you. But since he said that in an interview with vh1, I'm inclined to beleive that Sgt. Pepper influenced a hell of a lot more than Pet Sounds, even indirectly.
