it's unlikely to be natively supported but i'm making gen_appbar to do this (since i'm a classic skin user and like the feature)

Another update.. and still no improved rating-system.

You'd think that they'd have gotten the hint when it's been requested over and over again...

And yes, I know there are 3rd party plugins.. but I shouldn't need a hack to do something that the competition (WMP, iTunes) has implemented perfectly!

sanosuke 19th April 2004 14:37

Just wait, the developers have other things to do.

Good things take time to come.

Just delete any music that you would rate under 3 stars, then listen to music that you would rate 3 or 4, and decide if it should be 5 stars, or be deleted.

lol.

Plague 19th April 2004 16:40

lmao!
I love that solution.

vynegar 19th April 2004 19:05

listening to 30000 3 and 4 star songs would take quite some time :/ but yea for rating shit easily use that toaster plugin and theres another one for rating straight in the playlist

evil_oj 19th April 2004 22:38

why have that many average songs?

Plague 20th April 2004 00:04

30000 half-crappy songs sure sounds like overkill, or like an addiction to pirating music.. you pick.. ;)

evil_oj 20th April 2004 00:12

bahahaha

zonelinks 20th April 2004 07:21

hey
i agree real good performance from 5.03
though i cant wait to rate the songs
any idea from wen we can start doing so?

a feature i really like to see is to import multiple playlists with one click on a button. the same way you do with the mp3's [in the preferences of the ML you can set a folder where winamp will search to setup your mp3 database]. why isn't it possible to do this with playlist. set a folder to search for playlists and winamp will do the rest.

it's a pain in the ass to import every single playlist you have [more then 100].

auhsor 20th April 2004 12:44

Something that I would like to see is the docking to not cover the whole width. I've got winamp winshade docked at the top of the screen, and when I want to click the X to close a maximised window, winamp always pops up and gets in the way. I'm wondering if theres a way to make it so it only covers like part of the top.

I'm sorry if this is mentioned somewhere else or something like that.

That sounds like a great idea, I'm sure it'd be relatively simple to do. Put this in the wishlist to be sure that the nullsoft devs see it.

vynegar 20th April 2004 16:17

by saying 30000 3 or 4 songs i mean i rated all my stuff 3 or 4 to start up so they will still show up in views that i use like rating>=3 in there somewhere. i then will change the rating if it sucksor is kickass. the reason some people keep lower rated songs is alot of cds have interludes or intros and shit. on random i dont want to hear them but when listening to the whole cd at once i like hearing them sometimes..

maxdido 20th April 2004 17:25

i looked in the winamp wishlist forum and saw that it already was there in the sticky part.

so i really hope it will be implemented in version 5.04
cause it can not be that difficult to create mass import of playlists.

DJ Egg 21st April 2004 05:01

Unlikely for 5.04, maybe 5.1x, who knows ?!

5.04 is looking mainly like it's just going to be a bugfix release, so far...

dan1el 25th April 2004 10:25

Hrm

Except for 1 killer feature that will blow your minds. That is all. No explanation will be given.

DrO 25th April 2004 17:24

not that uber thing that we can't mention...?

Are you talking about the "fixed typo in some context menu shortcuts" 'cause that is the bestest newest feature EVER!

Dextro 26th April 2004 08:12

NO, don't tell me YOU MADE A TOAST MAKING PLUGIN AT LAST?!?!?!?!
I would prefer one for Frosties as I once said but toasts will do :p jk
(ok so this joke will grow old, ok, but I like it!)

zonelinks 26th April 2004 10:10

Tryed reading the frontpage? Pro gives you the ability to rip/burn at full speed and with all available codecs.

D&B 26th April 2004 17:23

Pro special features = rip/burn at full speed.

amano 27th April 2004 17:37

...and encode with MP3.

dsl50 30th April 2004 18:19

i downloaded 5.03 and sometimes it wants to freeze up and i have to use task maneger to get out of it then restart winamp. what could be the problem? i'm running win. 2000.:)

Dextro 30th April 2004 20:08

Plugins? other relevant info? we can't figure it out without this sort of info but I bet on a bad plugin or some adware, etc...

amano 4th May 2004 01:25

What would be a "Killer" feature for Winamp CONTEST (the best guess wins)?

HMM.

-> ML Winshade: Nice, but wouldn't be a killer feature

-> Built in support for one/some lossless codecs: Still missing from winamp but unlikely since there is not any lossless standard format

-> The new transcoding APIs: I don't know what they will be for, but since transcoding is bad, not likely to be the killer feature.

-> Multi Format Clipping Prevention/Replay Gaining support: Since that would be useful, it is my best guess.

dan1el 5th May 2004 12:07

now

will 5th May 2004 12:11

amano: all wrong.

i think that would be killer, if only for the quality loss (but that's expected :) )

that's a tricky one since the ML uses the standard skinning frame so for that it comes down to skin support and i'm not even sure if generic winshade will ever make it to the frames :(

Wel so how long will we have to wait for the next version? :p

And what will the changelog be again? (ok so I don't want to go read back :p )

Not very soon, i'm afraid. The devs have been tied up with other (non-winamp) things recently :/

there are things other than winamp?!

how dare you imply that winamp is not the only thing!!!!!!

shaneh 6th May 2004 05:05

I'd like to think they took up on my 'wish' to have the active playlist represented in the media library - keeping in sync with the pl editor (like mexp). This would be quite easy for them to add, but incredibly useful. Especially if it allowed all the ML functions (rating, explore item folder, play all from..., remove etc).... Yeah I know this isn't the wishlist, but its my guess for 5.04, cause theyd be crazy not to add it :P
