File endings....

Hi,
I just copied a few songs from cd to the pc with the windows media player... so the files are .wma files. When I open them in Winamp (v5.02), this file ending is visible in the playlist and I cannot change the file settings. It only appears the window "wma file info". How can I get rid of these endings?

Winamp doesn't fully support wma files without third-party plugins. However, the new Winamp 5.03 assumably supports WMA. I havn't personally tested it yet, so not sure how good it is.

Try upgrading and see if that fixed your problem.

Looks like it doesn't (using it right now) but there's one way to get arround it: Just tag all the files correctly in the media library and use advanced title formating (use the default style) and presto: .wma ending is gone ;)

The only way that works for me is to use a directory structure like artist/album/title or album/artist - title and enable guessing in prefs/media library (if it isn't on by default, can't remember).

ctrl + E in the media library lets you edit the ML info of the file btw ;)

EDIT: note: it only works in the ML btw. (if it doens't I'll have to do a clean install or look at the tips.txt :p)
