again, stops playing after a few songs
Asking for Help ! ! !
System Dual Athlon MSI K6D Master with AMD786 based AC97 sound, Win2k pro, SP4, Direct X 8.1, 2Gb memory, generic NIC card, Matrox G550 (using only one monitor). Mediaplayer 9.?. Wireless Logitech Mouse & Kbd MS-CD player plays sound wonderful, without problems. All types of mp3 players show similar hangup problems. I tried WinAmp, Media player, Music match, STP, etc. All start playing fine, but various activities, like IE5.5 or copying over the LAN, editing with Borland C++Builder 6, etc force winamp to stop, Same scenario regardless if using winamp 2.8 or 5.02. One way to continue for a while is to click twice on the WinAmp progress slider. If this doesn't work anymore, close Winamp and reopen it. As time progresses, only a reboot will fix it because WinAmp shows the Spectrum analyzer starting for a few sec, but no sound. I'm not a genius when it comes to switching IRQ's around (Bios), and I can't risk loosing this computer, because it't the one I work with. My other 2 computers (win2kpro) have no sound problem. I have tried to switch Winamp->options->preferences->plugins->output to AC97 sound card and all 3 buffer sliders are at about 50%, no change. I hope there is someone out there to help me with suggestions. Switching OS is out of the question because I can't afford to re'install all of my software again (no time). I also have WinDvd installed and it works fine, after an initial reconfig suggestion from the ap to anable some form of DMA support (most likely video or disk related) What I don't understand is that normal sound from the CD-player or line in works fine, but any MP3 decoding seems to hang it. I also installed Nimo Codecs Pack v5.0 upon a suggestion, but no change. Please, any suggestions are welcome, KLAUS (EinZigeuner) |
