Speaker output with headphones
Ok, my problem seems to be a simple one but one I can't fix. I have 2 desktop speakers, a subwoofer, and headphones. Music comes out of the desktop speakers and the subwoofer, but not the headphones. I've been through the database of info here about this, and I've installed the kx drivers, but it doesn't work. I'm sure this is just a very small setting I'm missing, possibly not in winamp but I'm not sure. I have the same problem in WMP as well.
Control Panel = Quadrophonic kX Mixer = Quadrophonic Winamp = Directsound, hardware accel, cpu accel (Correct drive selected) Computer Specs: p4 2.8 ghz Abit IC7-G mobo 1 gig pc3200 ram ATI Radeon 9800 XT Sound Blaster Audigy |
You have the setup so that you have the headphones plugged into the front speaker jacks and the desktop speakers in the rear, correct?
I'm guessing that the problem lies in that the speaker output is for powered speakers (speakers that have their own AC hookup), wheras the headphone jack is unpowered. To fix this, you probably will have to either: buy two speakers for the front, buy powered headphones, or plug the headphones into the headphone jacks and lose the quadrophonic setup. |
I would say I'd have to buy new hardware, except this setup, same speakers and everything, same computer, has worked before. So I know it's a setting, and not hardware. I'm actually not sure when this stopped working, seeing as how I stopped using winamp and the computer for a while.

Ah, I also forgot to mention that when I had my Creative drivers installed on the 4 speaker setup, the test ran fine (Sound came out all 4 speakers), and the test runs fine on these kX drivers too.
