Bad sound driver error code 87780078
 

I just installed XP on a new computer and I get this message when I try to play music with WINAMP.
Do I need some drivers and if so, where do I get it??

Does any sound at all work in other applications?

Sounds like when you installed Windows XP it wasn't able to find proper sound card drivers.

If it is a name brand system visit your computers manufacture's website and look for Sound Card drivers for Windows XP.

If you built it yourself, then go the motherboard manufacture's website (assuming it is on-board sound) and look for Sound Card drivers. Or if it is an actual sound card, go to the sound card manufacture's website.

You may also have luck trying Windows Update.

You can check to see if your sound card is installed properly in XP by:
Right–click "My Computer", click "Manage", and then click "Device Manager." Then look under "Sound, Video and game controllers."
