how does multicast work (tcp/ip or udp)

hi,

i wonder how shoutcast handles multicast streaming. is it a tcp/ip communication or does it rely on udp. i am asking because as far as i know most high level programming languages suport multicast sockets only for udp.

thanx in advance,
mischa

It doesn't. SHOUTcast is unicast only. Using HTTP streaming.
