Realtime NSV encoder / streamer
I was wondering, is there a realtime NSV encoder and streamer for the various video files and formats people have on their computers? I searched the forum but came up with no results yet, so I'm posting this topic...
To clarify: I don't mean a life video source, I found info on that. It's just so that you can stream avi, mpeg and the likes without having to encode every file to a NSV file first and wasting storage space... Just like the shoutcast (audio) plugin for winamp is able to stream mp3, but also wave, mod, xm or whatever sourceformat you throw at it. Offcourse I realise this asks for quite a lot of cpu capacity, but with machines growing faster and faster eventhough we need the extra speed less and less, I'm sure it can be handled perfectly well now or in the near future. So, if anyone knows of such a plugin, or is working on one, please drop a reply. Thanks! |
personally I don't think it's wise, not until we can do real-time video encoding on most machines.

nsvenc /config file.[avi|mpg|etc] sc:host_ip: port:headers.txt
no ??? ?? seems to work but i can see a problem that it disconnects as a source at the end of each file... would need to have some kinda proxy inbetween nsvenc and DNAS to keep the connection alive whilst nsvenc restarts with the next file. however could this proxy be a DNAS relay though? D. |

screen capture seems somewhat of a bodge to me.
it's just not a very pro way of doing things. I mean, as an analogy: you wouldn't put a CD in your stereo, then put a mic in front of the speaker and run that into DNAS...... would you ?? ;) D. |
Given the parameters of the request, that is the only solution available.
The alternative would be to develop and code a NSV software patch to "keep alive" the source to DNAS data stream connection inbetween files. |
sankt, that would be most useful....
there are a coupla guys around here coding sources - maybe they;ll see this and include that feature in their apps. :) (please?!) :) D. |
