totally frustrated

before i posted this, i went through and read all the read me's the stickies, etc.

Im running 2 systems, the 1st one with win xp and the 2nd with win 98. Both are connected to the net via a LinkSys Ehterfast Router.

The problem i'm aving is, neither machine will get a connection when trying to braodcast. I know how to use the port forwarding, because you do file sharing with a few friends, and use www.fileshare pro. And i've never had a problem with it.

I went through, step by step with this guide for goodness sakes.
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=77606

No matter what i do, i cannot get it to connect. can anyone help me out here? I even went as far as trying to set it up in the DMZ for testing purposes, and it still wont connect.

Have you correctly forwarded ports 8000 and 8001?

Are you behind a firewall?

MindsEyes 13th April 2004 18:50

yes. both posrt are coreectly forwarded. and the firewall has been shut down.

protegechris 13th April 2004 19:02

Could you post a link, and the DNAS log?

i did. says port 8000 not open. even when i tested with dmz. i just tried to bypass the router and it still wont connect.

FesterHead 13th April 2004 19:31

Do you have a firewall?

Is the Windows XP firewall configured/disabled?

MindsEyes 13th April 2004 19:36

xp firewall is disabled

TriquetraDawn 13th April 2004 19:43

I'm just going to hang out and listen to this conversation 'cause I am having the SAME problem. DRAT!!!

TriquetraDawn 13th April 2004 20:03

Sorry I meant to post my log of woe as well. But what is strange to me is. If you have my IP you can hear my broadcast. But it just doesn't show up on the Shoutcast list. :(

FesterHead 13th April 2004 20:20

Have you considered Third party DNAS hosting?

MindsEyes 13th April 2004 20:21

dont you have to pay for that?

protegechris 13th April 2004 20:39

Yes, you have to pay for that.

Hey there...
Okay I did the How-to thanks to Chris. But I am still having the same problem. I'm getting the same error message. First I'm posting the log, right behind that I will post the info from the 'cantheygetin' site. Like I said yesterday the IP that it is posting is NOT my ip. When you use my correct IP the station comes through. Even when I went to the Shoutcast DNAS status page it lists my correct IP in the "Listen" link. LOL too weird, huh? Now if the problem is a proxy, how do I correct that??? Thanks as always!!

From 'cantheygetin'(I did ports 8000&8001 just for the heck of it):
68.41.22.165:8000 is Closed

Reason Given: Connection timed out
More about this error: This means that you are most likely behind a firewall, this error esentially says that you and your computer aren't there. You might also check to be sure that your ip is 68.41.22.165, if it is not then you are behind some sort of proxy.

FesterHead 14th April 2004 16:06

Have you tried changing yPort to 666 yet?

Quote:

no data (30s timeout). disconnecting.
What is the Winamp/DSP combo input method?

1. Go to Winamp and enable the SHOUTcast DSP.
2. Click the "Input" tab
3. Look at the "Input Configuration", "Input Device" section
4. Is it set at "Winamp (Recommended)" or "Soundcard"

What file formats are the sources?

TriquetraDawn 14th April 2004 20:05

Hey FesterHead,
Well let's see....
I'm set at the "Winamp Recommended" and my file sources are a mix of MP3's and wav files. But I've only been testing the MP3's.

Now as far as the changing the yPort to 666. No I haven't done that yet and not too sure how to. LOL I didn't have this kind of trouble when I could only have 7 listeners on a dial-up connection running Windows 98! LOL

Thanks as always!!! :)

protegechris 14th April 2004 20:11

Go to the DNAS config, and look for this:
; Yport, port to connect to yp.shoutcast.com on. For people behind caching
; webproxies, change this to the alternate port (666 is what it might be,
; check www.shoutcast.com if you have problems). Otherwise, leave this at 80.
; We're actively working on re-opening port 666, but as of release the only
; working port is port 80.
Yport=80

Make 80 to 666 :)

And just to let you know, DNAS wont accept wave files, it will just drop the connection with winamp

TriquetraDawn 14th April 2004 22:28

Ya know what?? As soon as I hit send, lol I did a search on how to change the port. But that isn't helping me either cause I got the same error message.
::confused::
After I did get the error message I went and changed the port back to 80.
I did go to the link above (thanks Chris) now I just need to figure it out how to correct it.
Hmm...I'm wondering if I should do a system restore and start from the beginning?? LOL

protegechris 14th April 2004 22:36

Hmm.. Your problem has exceeded my skill area, and most likely Festerhead, or another one of the highly skilled individuals on this forum will come along and help ya.

I just wanted to drop in to say do not do a system restore, as their must be a problem with your hardware, or something like that, and most likely a system restore wouldn't help you.

TriquetraDawn 14th April 2004 22:52

Thanks but I think I am actually gonna remove shoutcast and Winamp. The crappy part is my XP computer is less than a month old so that is why I'm not gonna bet on the hardware being faulty. But thanks again for all your help!! :)

TriquetraDawn 15th April 2004 04:15

Greetings, (LOL)
I think I must enjoy the torture of Shoutcast! Okay instead of doing a system restore, I did a fresh install of Shoutcast, Winamp, and the DNAS. I did determine that the IP Radio Toolbox and WhatIsMyIP are giving me are incorrect. My correct IP is and I am broadcasting. I'm just playing Shoutcast adverts. I've even seen myself in the DNAS server status. LOL Normally when something is this much of a pain in the butt I wouldn't bother. But I DO like Shoutcast and would like to give it another try.

I guess basically what I am asking is there a way to change what Shoutcast sees so that it could see my REAL ip instead of this and giving me the same funky error!!! lol(snip):
[yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Cannot see your station/computer (IP: 68.41.22.165:8000) from the Internet, disable Internet Sharing/NAT/firewall/ISP cache (Connection timed out))

Unless I just advertise like crazy and say :p to being listed.
OOPS! Almost forgot to post this.
http://192.168.0.11:8000/listen.pls

Thanks as always... :weird:

FesterHead 15th April 2004 04:48

192.168.0.11 is a lan ip and will work for machine on your lan.

Please post the exact results from the cantheygetin link.

These forums are also logging your ip as 68.41.22.165

TriquetraDawn 15th April 2004 11:44

Sure here it is:
