"must haves"

what do you think are the "must have" programs that everybody should have, what are the programs you install every time you reformat your system? p2p, viewers, burners, rippers, players, codecs, drivers, editors, tools, browsers, converters, ftp-clients, system managements/uilities/diagnostics/optimizers, adware removals, etc.

i'm reinstalling my system and i need ideas, so pull out your lists, i know you have them ;) if it's not free post it anyway, prices shouldn't matter.

mikeflca 15th April 2004 05:15

norton systemworks (its like $40 US but we got it for free because of rebates), adaware is always good (the free one ;)) and, um.......if you don't want to waste $$ on MS office go openoffice. thats the best i can do for now.

What's that mean?

mark 19th April 2004 06:58

it means the regualar msn client is better than trillian now. or wait... I'm confused

idynkydnk 19th April 2004 15:41

Please educate me. Why is MSN better?

Vie 19th April 2004 17:25

Its easyer to remove?

EfaustuS9 19th April 2004 17:46

If you have XP, its a pain to remove. Just like all competing microsoft products that they wish to force upon an unsuspecting public, simply include in the next OS release. For Example; Netscape was the defacto browser before IE became integrated in Win98. Real, Winamp, Quicktime were the big time media players before WMP was integrated into SE, ME, XP. MSNM used to be in a distant 3rd compared to YIM and AIM before its desktop integration into XP, now it has a commanding lead over YIM and is gaining on AIM. Then again if you get the DOJ compelled service pack addition which allows you to remove such items manualy then MSNM is not so hard to remove, but you have to go get the patch.

mark 19th April 2004 19:43

actually its EU compelled. DOJ are pushovers
