How to access tv station remotely -
Is it possible for me to login (from my friens house)to my stream server and change fps so viewers can enjoy it better? Or do you need software like pc anywhere to do it pc remotely? Thxs

TightVNC
Screw PC Anywhere.
Get RealVNC or TightVNC, both are free and do the same thing. Another software quite popular is Remote Administrator (commonly called RAdmin), however that isn't free but has a 30 day trial. And yeah, you do have to login via a remote pc, because shoutcast doesnt store that in the config. |
Thxs =)

you could also run a telnet or ssh server on your pc and login remotely to run programmes and edit files. it won't be graphical, but it saves on bandwidth! (windows 2k and XP have telnet server ready to go, ssh is harder to set up in windows, and both of these are pretty standard things for linux).
i have built a web interface for editing a shoutcast server config remotely, and for starting/stopping the server (amongst other things). However, this won't be of use to change the fps, since that's in the encoder software config, not the server, but if you were able to run commands on your pc remotely...... if you know about webservers, are running one, or know some php, and how to use it, and think you might be able to use my web interface for your own server, then email me: hfband_nospam@blueyonder.co.uk (remove the _nospam bit). I won't answer questions related to what you might need to use what I have just described, but I'll maybe supply it if I think you know what you're doing :) [ie. no timewasters please !] Doug. |
Let me play with telnet on my xp and c wot I can do. Myb that will be enough but myb i'll try ur web based app. I'll let u know, thxs =)

20%+ even with the frame rate set below 30/fps... i'd try one of the other options first. |
Yeah, but the fool decided it'd be fun to try to get PM support from me for tightvnc, which was a prompt "I don't use it even" reply.
Soooooo whoever itis, they said they were going with user-friendly radmin. |
Fool huh? F-U Bisch! =) - and radmin did work and was more user friendly. As far as CPU usage I should be ok, I have a P4 3.0ghz w/ht tech on mobo Intel865 with DDR400 1gb. The other two apps (tightvnc and realvnc) were hard to configure to get full remote control settings. The viewer setting worked, but full remote was hard to get to work. FAQ didn't really help either. That's why I pmed u :P
