Check out my new MSouse...
MS Intellimouse Explorer 4.0
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mo...s.aspx?pid=003 Ordered one late last week and just got it in the mail. I haven't hooked it up yet, but this thing is total pwnage. I originally saw this mouse (same, but the one I saw was wireless) in Office Depot about two weeks ago. I loved it, but I hated the fact that it was wireless. And I couldn't find any stores that had the normal wired version in stock. So I ended up ordering it online, and just got it yesterday. I've got several of the original Intellimouse Optical mice (two of which have never been used yet), and these things rock ass... so you know this new Intellimouse is the shiz. :D And I don't care what anyone says about MS; Mice are one thing that they KNOW how to make. |
I've wanted that for awhile now :)
|
those things are freaking expensive
|
ive still got my old intellemouse 1.0... one of the first optical mice. i've kicked its ass and replaced its led a good 20 times and the glide pads at least 5 times and its still workin fine
|
Looks like a ufo to me :p

|

I like my mouse. $30, optical, Microsoft, wired. Smooth as fuck, never skips, etc.
Wired > Wireless. |

my wireless mouse lasts a couple of days between charges. and my keyboard lasts more than a month with some AA batteries.

I like my MS Intellimouse and MS keyboard, they know how to make good mice and keyboards :). However, I wish my keyboard was a slim one like the laptop keyboards, or even the kind made entirely out of flexible plastic that can be rolled up and submerged. :D |
Hey, I prefer to stick to the basics
|
I don't like my mouse. When I scroll down with the scroll wheel, sometimes it scrolls back up by one screen. Also, it occasionally activates itself and causes the pointer to jump, and I know it is the mouse causing this because the light getss brighter when you move it. At least it looks cool, but that's only because I replaced the red LED with a blue one (I had to, because the red one looked stupid in a translucent blue case).
|
Well, that's probably why your mouse does that. The sensor isn't seeing the proper frequency of light.
|
When playing a game with a wireless mouse it takes longer to react. Only very slightly but when it's an important game it makes all the difference.

I bought it two days ago. It's the best mouse I've ever had. :) The tilt-wheel is really handy for side scrolling, as they advertise. And the two small buttons on the thumb side, for "Forward" and "Back" browsing functions are nice too. I don't have to go to the toolbar for navigation or to the bottom scrollbar at all any more.
The thing is really quiet...I can hardly hear the clicks, but the response feels good. And the weirdest thing to get used to? The scroll wheel is stepless. It's smooth and weighted...feels really odd when you first use it, then aweesome when you get used to it (after a few minutes). And being stepless, you have much more granular scrolling with it. I can move just one line at a time, or with big movements I can scroll almost twice as far as with my old mouse with a stepped scroll wheel. This is my second cordless mouse....my last one being Microsoft's first gen cordless several years ago. Back then it was touchy with the reception...I'd get pauses and drops every now and then. It was annoying enough that I went back to the wire after a week or so. But this new one is as well connected as a wired mouse. No drops or pauses at all. Highly recommended! :) |
^ Yes! :D
Wonderful, isn't it? :) Btw idiot, that's the mouse that I've got hooked to this computer right now. I've been using it since they were first released, and I still love it. At least MS made a mouse worthy to be its successor. :D |
How much does it cost?
|
I ordered it online, and I paid just over $32 for it.

I paid $34.99 for mine, on sale at a local Best Buy. But the online Best Buy price was still the retail $49, I believe.
Shop around and you can find one around the price Sarge did, I'm sure. It's money well spent. |
Very well spent... This new Intellimouse and the old Intellimouse Optical are hands down the best MS products ever made. :)

I've been using an 'MS Intellimouse with Intellieye' since the summer of 2000(maybe earlier, can't remember). It's nearing the end of it's life cycle (retire to the server pasture for emergency use). I bought it mismarked at OfficeMax the day it came out because the idiot boy put the wrong sticker on it. I grabbed the manager, got him to make the sales clerk ring it in as marked, and he thanked me for pointing out the idiot.
