looks nice.

I've got the MX700 combo. If I ever get a mouse that doesn't have this many buttons on it again, I'll cry. The thumb mounted back/foward buttons alone are worth paying for. I just wish it were gyroscopic....

Years ago while flipping past Tech TV they were showing a novelty trackball mouse that was shaped like a giant breast - two parts of the aureola were buttons, and the nipple was the trackball.

Part of the idea was that it "ergonomic"...

Not optical, but I love it although..

Such a shame to see these go to waste. My mailing adress is...... ;)

I don't like my mouse. When I scroll down with the scroll wheel, sometimes it scrolls back up by one screen. Also, it occasionally activates itself and causes the pointer to jump, and I know it is the mouse causing this because the light getss brighter when you move it. At least it looks cool, but that's only because I replaced the red LED with a blue one (I had to, because the red one looked stupid in a translucent blue case).

As sarge said, the optical sensor is designed to pick up light in the red spectrum. The blue spectrum is far too close to normal daylight to be effective. Additionally, blue diodes require a higher activation voltage than their red equivalent.

Ooo, 4.0! I love my 3.0 to death and that one looks even better. I'll have to give my sister my 3.0 and get a 4.0. :D

I assume they're only like $40 or $50?

I might end up getting one. my wireless optical 2.0 is a really shitty shape... hurts yer hand after a few hours...

Actually, it is quite comfortable ... it is getting used to that is the problem. I had the Microsoft Intellimouse Optical (the one that was a step down from the explorer) and that one hurt my hand more.
Weird. My Intellimouse is the most comfortable mouse I've ever had. To each their own, I guess.

Oh trust me, they won't be going to waste. :D I've got four older computers that I still need to hook up and get running. ;)

Hmmm...my hand on a breast is a pretty natural feeling... ;)

tilt wheel sounds really cool, does it work good?

mark 1st May 2004 22:13

it works in ie, office etc, but opera and most other 3rd party stuff hates it...

I had an Intellimouse 2.0, but I had to stop using it because it was causing my arm to hurt, and I thought I was getting CTS or something. Since then I've used the (significantly smaller) standard Logitech Mouseman Optical. I'd like to try the MS one again, but I'd hate to throw it away if it was still uncomfortable.

Everyone's different, especially when it comes to ergonomic interface devices. A mouse that hurts one person may be very comfortable to someone else. So you might consider selling the MS mouse...just a thought. ;)

The mouse I replaced with this one was an IBM optical (wired) mouse, which I use on my PC at work now. It's the most comfortable mouse I've ever used. It's very ergonomic, with a ridge on the top down the left side between my palm and thumb, and it's large compared to most mice....it fits my hand very well. This Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 is slightly smaller than the IBM mouse, so I'll have to get used to it, but it's comfortable too. I've never had CTS symptoms, so I'm trying to be alert for them with the new mouse and all.
