I really love skinning, but sometimes I stop and think: "geez I've got a weird-arse hobby!". Spending hours decorating a small mp3 player that already has many good decorations available for it - when I step outside of myself and think about it, it seems a very strange way to pass the time :D I almost find it hard to believe that I enjoy it as much as I do. Then I remember how many skinners there are around the world that enjoy this strange hobby as much as I do - and I think, are we all freaks? :weird: :D

What are your thoughts on this? Is skinning a bizzare hobby to have, or is it just me?

Freaky would be jaffing off over the screen afer you finish your skin, that would be freaky...

It's just you. And me. And everyone else here.

Skinning for me is just as much a form of meditation as it is something that give me a result.

And in that respect, is working intently on something as useless as a decoration for a media player any more freaky than raking lines in a sand pit?

its like a simple yet challenging game that becomes addictive with its frustration.

Hey, at least I get to add "old video game" to the decription provided by SW. Obscure, to say the least.
Just to give you guys a reference, I dabbled in Anime Music Videos for a while (I'll try again when I have a more powerful computer) and am currently in the "making stuff out of duct tape" hobby. I've been doing a lot of roses lately, and I have started a (Vash the Stampede)trench coat, which I have yet to finish. I also make figurines out of clay, including a complete but hard-to-use Mario chess set.

I don't think we're all freaks, but it's probably safe to assume that some of us are. Winamp skinning is one of my more normal hobbies.
