A couple interesting ideas...

Okay, I haven't had time to start another skin (if I did, I'd work on one of my many unfinished ones, like Sonic or Kirby or Mario&Luigi). However, I have two kind of interesting ideas that I thought I'd throw around.

First, has anybody done a realistic all-clay winamp skin? I had the idea a long, long time ago, but could never really flesh it out. I'm thinking of something along the lines of the menu screens and such in The Neverhood, does anybody remember that game? It was a PC adventure game, and there was a sequel called Skullmonkeys on playstation.
http://www.dreamworksgames.com/Games/Neverhood/ That web site is quite old. Like, 1997 maybe?
edit: I found a clay skin: http://winamp.com/skins/details.php?id=50455 Not quite what I wanted, but still cool! I might make one sometime, becuase this is not updated.

Idea two is kind of weird. Has anybody done a skn based on the NES controller? It's becoming a popular symbol at Hot Topic (a store that sells T-shirts and stuff with funny pop culture references). It would be an easy design, but it would be tricky to fit it well to the layout of a classic skin.

Perhaps both of these skins would be better as modern skins than classic, but I thought I'd ask.

The clay idea is a great one. I often have thought that I would like to one day get something like a piece of canvas or hession, or even styrofoam, or some other material, cut it to winamp dimensions, then draw or paint a skin onto it. The idea was to then take photos of it, and make the skin from those - so that the skin would genuinely look like the stuff it's supposed to be made from. However, I think a clay skin would be better than all of those ideas. Since you already make things out of clay, you should do that!

Though a big problem with skins that are supposed to look like 'real' or organic things like clay is that areas like the VIS and PLEDIT, and others, tend to ruin the crap out of them - so you'd have to be clever with how you did those.

That clay skin you linked to is awesome. Read the readme that comes with it, its hilarious.
