That's why things will never improve.

I find it amazing how the same people that love to flaunt their patriotism always start whining and moaning when their country asks them to pay taxes.

This is by no means limited to the USA.

I don't think he would raise taxes, although Kerry would probably make the tax cuts much smaller for people making a lot of money every year. an in that case, whoever was talking about not having a job has little to be worried about......

By the way, has anyone here been interested enough to look at how the huge surplus from the clinton administration was turned into a large deficit by the Bush administration (that is still growing)? just some food for thought......

We've always been a country that's resisted taxation. And it's pretty frustrating at times, because we Americans want all the social services, etc, but, we throw a hissy fit when local governments want to raise property taxes in order to get more funding for local schools.

We want it, but we don't want to pay for it, is a prevalent attitude here.

Lookie, how much we spend on National Offense, errr......Defense. http://www.warresisters.org/images/pieFY05.jpg

And those stats don't help either. Damn, it's so damn frustrating where the government seems to be heading. Even if Bush does get booted out of the White House, do you realise how long it'll be before our society, economy, and world standing will recover?

And no, I'm not blaming Bush for the economy, this current recession was one in the making for quite some time.

it's a different mindset though. regardless of how good it would make american society, people would still complain non-stop, as it's not their vision of the "american dream".

You bet i will :D

however, it is only possible because we have a long history of paying those high taxas, it would never be possible in America.

wouldn't swap though.... im a big supporter of the way our system works, and generaly while some complains about the high taxes, when you ask them directly if they want taxcuts and consequently have reductions in the welfare system, most people change their minds....

I saw what I got for my taxes when I lived in Denmark and I had very little to complain about. (that was 51%)

I just got my tax return forms from the Danish government from the summer job I had in copenhagen. I don't understand a thing. I only made about £600 anyway, if they took half of that it would be a bit of a blow.

ertmann|CPH 23rd May 2004 22:32

you spend half a year working in Copenhagen and only got 600£?

lol, you, my friend, just got buttfucked...

that's two weeks full time work (37 hrs)on Danish minimum wage :/

Wolfgang 23rd May 2004 22:52

no, I only worked for a month, at the Baron and the Baroness, you probably know it. It was pretty damn good, I had the shittest job but made £11 an hour, more than double what your average student earns doing bar work in London.

I was in Viborg for half a year two years ago at a Hojskole. Loved it.
