Modern skin - single click down PL
Is there a modern skin that contains single click down and up arrows through the playlist? The default skin and one other I've tried only have a bar to pull which leaps forward too far.

Forgot to say Winamp5
|
no, there isn't such a skin
and as far as i know, it isn't possible for explanation, see this thread: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....hreadid=173622 |
Thanks -- I'm also finding the music library awkward to use -- it seems the only thing you can do from within it is make playlists. Too bad you can't use it to edit tags or delete files -- I will search to see if there is info about this onsite.

No, there's a lot more you can do with it.
Try right-clicking a song in the library ;) You'll see a menu: 'edit selected info', a remove-submenu, etc... And you can make views (sort of automated playlist). Just try, and you'll find out! |
But when I open the media library and click on an artist in the left hand panel, in the right hand panel, it only shows artist name and album. I looked in preferences and can't find how to expand into the songs as well, that way I could do the right click as you say on any given item. As it is, if I doubleclick on an album, all WA does is add the album files to my PL. What am I missing?

it seems like your songs panel is lost...
move your mouse cursor to the bottom line of the artist/album panels if i'm correct you'll now see a vertical double arrow now click and draw does it work? if not, please attach a screenshot |
Aha -- the problem was in my skin -- Classix_10K_Modern -- which doesn't seem to offer the songs list (it should be below the other panes, yes?)
The truth is, in terms of GUI, no mp3 player I've used is as functional or uncluttered as the Zinf GUI. Prob with Zinf is its Search function doesn't work to add files to the library -- it hangs and corrupts the db too easily -- thus my experiments with WA. Thanks for your help. Last I looked, there were very few skins for WA5 Modern. I'll check again, as I don't much care for the default. |

mmh, as far as i know every modern skin should be able to show the songs pane
i tried classix and it worked i attached a screenshot at the right you see the ML without the songs pane draw the white line up and the left screenshot will be the result (i hope) |
Here's a screen shot of what I get, no song list, rather downloaded song info from the net

so you did try dragging the white line?
maybe, first enlarge the size of the library, to create space for the songs pane after that drag the white line between artist/album panes and song info up if this doesn't work, i really don't know... maybe try reinstalling: the default setting should show the songs pane |
I think that siebe83 has the right idea with the click and drag suggestion. :)
However if you have no luck with that, go to the Winamp folder (usually C:\Program Files\Winamp) and delete the Studio.xnf file while Winamp is not running. That will reset all modern skin settings (size, oplacity, docked toolbar, etc) to their defaults it also fixes different modern skin problems. |
@JM:
I don't think this setting is stored in studio.xnf, since this setting is saved for every view seperately. I experimented a bit and it's the value adiv2pos=46029 in every *.vmd file in plugins/ml (FYI) @arnstein: If you didn't succeed recovering the songs panel, just delete all *.vmd files in winamp/plugins/ml |
You know how large the studio.xnf file can get? It stores all the info for every modern skin you have used. Deleting it occasionally is not a bad thing.
I have saved a backup copy with the settings of my most used skins, I copy that one back in the winamp folder and still have the settings I want. |
