Ogg Display in Winamp Explorer
I have Winamp 5.03 and have been having this problem ever since using Winamp 2.x: when I double-click the "add" button on winamp to browse through files to queue up, OGGs simply don't display until I specifically scroll down and choose to display "all files" or "OGG files." In other words, displaying "all supported types" does not cause OGGs to show up.
In order to solve this problem, I have deleted and reestablished Winamp's file associations with OGG in both Windows and in Winamp, I have restarted Winamp several times after making said changes, and I have even reinstalled Winamp. It may seem like a small problem, but having albums encoded in the OGG format and having to go to such trouble to play them is truly frustrating. Is there a way to make Winamp recognize OGG as a supported file, and has this been a problem for anyone else? Thank you in advance for your assistance. Joe |
It is a Windows limitation. Windows it limited to 256-characters for "All supported files" in the Open File Dialog. If you have a lot of input plug-ins or supported extensions Winamp can easily over run this limit. If there are input plugins you don't find yourself using at all, you might want to remove them. Also, you can remove some of the numerous less popular extension supported by Winamp's in_mod, in_mid and in_wave plug-ins. See this post (bolded part) on how to do that.
