Instrument of your choice

If someone had to offer you a musical instrument as a present for birthday or any occasion, what instrument would you wish to get?

I would like to get a Distorted Guitar; though I don't know much about guitars, for some reason I'd really love to play the distorted guitar and become a famous guitarist ;)

What about you?

grumpyBB 29th May 2004 23:26

drum set!

MidnightViper88 29th May 2004 23:48

I'm a bassist, so something like like an American Delux Fender P-Bass or Rickenbacker would be damn nice... :D

I also wanna learn how to play guitar, so a Gibson Les Paul or Explorer would be awsome too... :D

xenosomething 30th May 2004 00:30

Raz 30th May 2004 00:44

There are two things you need to know then...

"Gibson Les Paul" and "Marshall JCM800"... :D

corkhead0 30th May 2004 18:45

A church-sized pipe organ. Those things a worth a small fortune. :)

Keyboard, since it emulates everything. Then again, I would need Reason...

dram 27th July 2004 03:35

viola

CaptainNuss 27th July 2004 15:01

Piano as well. All the other stuff in my room would have to go, though.

Semantics 2nd August 2004 17:58

I've gotta go with my blue and white Fender Stratocaster. If I could marry it, I would

I played one once. My father is a deacon, his wife a pastor, so I had the opportunity to play a church organ once when the church was empty. It has a certain magnitude to it.

k_rock923 3rd August 2004 23:17

Phantom of the opera!

Pixelcraft 5th August 2004 18:46

Drumset. I think I could do really good on it, I'm always drumming crazy stuff on this keyboard :D

Oh yes. In fact a church in my old town is currently selling their one for $10,000, which is pretty cheap. It needs fully re-wiring and stuff though, if you actually bought it - they had to cut everything and it's a very old design with many many separate wires.

Failing that, a nice Hammond B3 organ with Lesley speakers. Or just a nice piano.

Yeah, my friend used to play one (he's a good pianist) and he played Toccata and Fugue by Bach on it once. Immense.

Also "Kazoo".

Almost. It's "1959 Gibson Les Paul and Marshall 1959 SLP"

The 800 was an ok amp though, I used to work for Marshall and they never really managed to make an amp that was better than a plexi.

MidnightViper88 9th August 2004 17:02

I'm musically inclined to playing hard rock and metal, so the JCM800 would be my personal pick, but to each their own... :)

OutlawJim 9th August 2004 22:53

i'd say piano, but i gots the best one of those in the world, so ill go with a drum kit

Ione 10th August 2004 02:05

A flute, I used to play quite a lot on my mothers.

Dummer and dummer? ;)

deeder7001 10th August 2004 18:04

i'd want a guitar. i don't know how to play but i'd want to learn.

MegaRock 11th August 2004 21:39

Gibson Les Paul Air Guitar (the black one).

ryan 12th August 2004 10:34

I wouldn't mind having a drum set.

nybergh 12th August 2004 13:11

I'd like someone to give me a Gibson Les Paul Jimmy Page signature edition, that is Gibson´s most expensive model ever sold.

Then I´d sell it and buy
1) A decent drum-kit (never too late to become a new Ginger Baker :) )

2) A complete Mac and Logic-based recording studio with a good software synth and a big libary of sound effects. Then I'd make soundscapes as a hobby. I'm quite the opposite of "musically talented" (I couldn´t even play the most basic stuff on guitar last year when I had the compulsory music-cource in Upper Secondary School), so that´s pretty much what I´d be able to make of it....

.hXc. 12th August 2004 20:06

A mic. Nothing I enjoy more than screaming and going nuts on stage. Too bad my vocals suck.

That's why I bought a guitar. No wait, I bought that before I wanted to be a vocalist. But I suck at guitar too.

If you've got that much money why not get a Protools system? Okay, Logic is cheaper and you don't need the extra hardware, but after using both and talking to a lot of people, I can say that Protools is significantly easier to use and also more of a professional standard.

[edit]Although for MIDI you'd have to get, say, Reason as well, because Protools doesn't have MIDI sequencing. Reason now works directly with the latest Protools as if it was one program though. Logic, on the other hand, does have MIDI stuff, so maybe it wouldn't be such a bad choice.[/edit]

nybergh 13th August 2004 05:14

I wouldn't do much with ProTools as it doesn't have a sequencer. But really,I'm not getting a brand new home studio tomorrow or so or even next year. If ever :)

Cognition 13th August 2004 08:00

Yeah, I meant hypothetically, if you'd got that much money from selling your Les Paul. :)
