I need Help!!!
Fellows, I'm new here, and I need help... it's about my SKin... well, i was doin' my first skin and everything was just fine... the i zipped it and changed zip to wsz, and in the tutor it says that if your skin is in skinlist, then everything went right... i don't think so. my problem is, that when i turn on my skin on Winamp, it wasn't the way i did it.. it was ordinary, i mean the original skin!! not the one i made!! why? ðlease help me! please`?
|
if you need a hand pixel e-mail me with the bitmaps an i`ll zip em for you an all
|
Or read this thread on how to create .wsz correctly.
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....hreadid=161489 If you have done all that, then either attach the .zip file in a post here, or post a link where we can download it and check it out for you. |
Ok, thank you guys! here is the zip! :) thank ya! ;)
i couldn't paste the zip here (with "browse").. it's too big. so here is the link to it!:) my stupid host won't let you download the file from here, so you most click the link, and then click it again in the next page! :) sorry, for this coplicated situation.. :/ *cLicK* |
What have you zipped that with?, my winzip won't open it, tells me it was zipped with pkzip 2.1.
However, what I think your problem is you have zipped all your images inside a folder within the zip, your zip looks like this. skin.zip > folder > images When it should look like. skin.zip > Images Create a new zip, but this time add the images directly to the zip file, don't add the folder containing the images. |
I zipped it with Winzip 9.0... i don't know why, but it seems that no one can open my zip files...however, in the tutorial it says that "With the Zip compression tool of your choice, zip YOUR skin folder " so, i zipped THE FOLDER, not the files in the folder.. by the way, I zipped it in two ways: 1. i zipped the folder and 2. i zipped the files and i had a same result... so... i'll try tho zip it with rar! would it work then?
|
Hmmm, let me try it with 9 and see what happens.
Regardless , you do need to zip just the files and not the folder. /edit, yep, just used it on winzip 9 and it extracted everything to a folder called golubevskin which contains all your bitmaps. As I said before, simply zip up the images and not the folder containing them. Things must have changed in winzip9, because you used to be able to simply drop the folder onto a new zip file and it would add everything and ignore the holding folder. That's progress for you. |
well... hmm... would you do something, so it would work on winamp? i'm pretty sure, that i could not! :/
yes. i did everything you told me, but it isn't working!!:((( it still puts the original skin in winamp |
What?, you manage to zip up the folder but can't manage to zip up the images ? I've rezipped your file but it's too bit to host on here and I don't have the time or inclination to upload it anywhere for you, however...
Step by step guide. 1) Open the folder on your hard drive that contains your winamp skin images. 2) Create new zip file in that folder 3) Highlight all the image files that are contained in the folder 4) Drag them onto the new zip file Or 1) Open the folder on your hard drive containing your winamp skin images 2) Highlight all the files within it. 3) Right click on it and select the "winzip" option from the context menu 4) Select "Add to zip" option 5) Click the "NEW" button in the section marked "add to archive" 6) specify a name for a new zip file 7) Hit the ADD button |
I know how to zip the files, not the folder! i already did it! but when i rename it and copy it to skins folder it shows up in the skins list in winamp, but it wont work.. i mean when i turn it on in winamp it is not the way it suppose to be .. .does it work on your winamp?
|
Ok, have you uploaded your new zip file anywhere?, is it the same link as shown above ?
If you have uploaded an updated version , then it's still got the images inside a folder, at least it has on the one I've just this second downloaded. If you haven't updated, then please do so, so I can check it again. When I re-zip your file at this end and rename it to .wsz it works fine on my winamp. |
ok, here!

Works for me, although I'm not sure what your skin is supposed to look like, although it does skin winamp, here let me attach a screenshot of what I get...
|
hmm... but not on my winamp...
maybe the problem is in my way of renameing it. The link you gave earlier... well, i have win xp, and there isn't that kind of function in my "folder properties"... and there isn't any properties plus eather!!! hey! cool! now it works.. even though there wasn't this "whole file name" function on my comp, i just renamed the name... well just like that.. so it sort of became pixel001.wsz.zip ... AND IT WORKED! that is just so awesome! my skin isn't as awesome though! but the point is that now i get it! wohoo! thank you! :) |
hey Pixel001, it's possible to get rid of that rectangular grid area on the top of the EQ area. If you don't think the grid is very important, then you might want to get rid of it, since it is currently obscuring the guitarist's face. If you want, attach your eqmain.bmp, and I'll do it for you.

Stillwater, i dont know..!
Yo! Listen, are here any people with golden heart, who have been doing skins for many years, and now can do them very GOOD and without any problems... if there are, so would you please do me a skin, which would look like that. I'm not forcing anybody, but if there is some helping people, then be my guest! :) the problem is, when i tried to do THE skin, it became very ugly and ... wrong... :/ 1. the play, pause e tc should be black, when you click them! :) 2. and it would be wery nice if the eyes of the guy were able to see! :) Thank you! ps. the missing parts are up to YOU! :) |

almost forgot....
|
Pixel001. I wasn't asking a question. I was telling you that if you want, I can change your skin for you so that the guitarist is not obscured by that big rectangular grid. If you want me to change it, attach the EQMAIN.BMP of that skin :)
|
:) ok! :) it would be nice of you. :) thank you! ;)
hmm.. if you want, you can make me this another skin too... :) |
Attach the EQMAIN.BMP, and I can change it for you. (the 2 links above don't work for me)
|
ok! :) here...
well... it's too freaking BIG... well, it seems like i have to uplaod it again on my host.. :/ *cLiCk* |

OK. I've made two versions. This one reveals some of his face - but the top of his head is still obscured by the titlebar that says "winamp equalizer".....

......and this one reveals his face as well. But in this one, I also got rid of the titlebar, so that you can see the top of his head.
Of course, if you choose to use one of these files, you will have to rename it to EQMAIN.BMP before you put it in your skin. |
Thank you! :) it was very cool! :)
|
Listen, i tryed to do the skin i attached before (golubev2.jpg) my self... and here it is... well, do you notice any diffects in it? i do, and i don't know why they are there. well, they don't bother me... but any way!
