Experiment in Squiggles!
 

Hey people. So i was messing around with my tablet tonight and decided to draw random squiggles. i thought, "hmmm... this would make a cool winamp skin", and expanded it into the lower part of the main window.

Should i bother continuing? winamp skins are really time consuming.

That looks really good. I bet if you had some batches of transparency and stuff in the squiggles it could turn out to be an awesome skin. :up:

Hmmm.. i contemplated transparency for a while, but it just seems a little too... i dunno. i'm not gonna do it though. Theres something about transparencies on wa2 skins that i just don't like.

*horrified* You're using the base skin instead of Skinner's Atlas?! *faints dramatically*

i lost the skinners atlas and couldn't be bothered to find it again. i can change over if someone links me to it.

Looks cool. I think it'd look better in bright colors like orange, green and yellow.

How do you mean? Which bits should be brighter?

update: i did the 'lcd' area. I think around the edge i might continue the sqiggles but make it a darker grey.

I dont think I'd go darker, because on my monitor it's pretty dark right now. I would suggest adding some bright parts on the squiggles for contrast.

All of it, basically. I don't think the shapes and things are suited for a dark color scheme.

You know what you gould do? I'm sure this isn't part of your intended vision, but you could seriously color it as a literal "spaghetti" skin. That would be pretty original. And tasty.

No, looks cool to me so far. Maybe add some shading and highlights in the squiggles, so they have more texture

this is becoming quite a cool little skin.

I say that the labels would look better if they were in white, or another bright colour.

Looks amazing so far. One suggestion: I dont know if you have bitmap text turned on or not for the title scroller, but the text there looks a little out of place. I like the red.

Hopefully this is a good enough example -- I can't recolor things of this nature very easily in mspaint, lol. You don't have to use this (spaghetti) idea, it is a bit strange, but it would make a cool color variation, or I may ask to remix it once you finish, lol. ;)

I like the spaghetti idea! but the red button should be brown as a tasty meatball!

anyways... about the squiggle skin....
I think that it is a little too bright now.. but as it is said you could (i think you should) ad some shade......

i give up for now. maybe after i've finished exams and i have more spare time i'll finish it. but drawing all those squiggles is really time consuming at the moment.

I also have exams.. but they are almost over now.. only need 1 more then its finished....

and i understand how you feel.. its pretty hard to think of both the exams and skinning...

I've always thought it would be cool if a few people started off with a general idea for a skin and then went in different directions with it, sort of a pre-remix. Maybe you could do that here, if pukkaboy allows of course. If not, maybe I'll start a new thread for it, hmmm...

could be fun to help each other with the same skin as you publish
