New NES skin for NES Game Boy Series
 

Hey guys. Nintendo has released a special version of the GBA themed around the classic NES, and a bunch of NES games to go with it. I want to make a winamp skin to celebrate it, but of the 8 games they are releasing, 5 already have decent skins based on them, and 3 are games I'm not very familiar with. I think I'm going to take a stab at Ice Climber. Seem cool? I'm sure a lot of people might prefer Bomberman, but the NES version doesn't look very good. You're probably thinking of Super Bomberman.

im only familiar with ice climbers through smash bros...but im sure you' ll come up with something good.:)

...and what were the 3 games you weren't familiar with?(probably xevious right?)

That game was weird, if it's the one I think it is. Should make a nice skin, though.

This is a very quick skin so far, but it will get harder as it goes on because I'll have to fight to avoid using identical graphics too often. Not too much trouble, though. Check out some of these nice little animations. I used a bird for the volume bar -- 100% original. ;)

But in all seriousness, you're doing a great job. And so quickly, too. Not too sure about the on and auto labels, but everything else looks great.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the labels either. The thing I'm worried about is the fact that if I don't label them, it won't even be obvious that they're buttons, so forget about telling what they do. If anybody has a suggestion for labeling those buttons (and also the EQ/PL buttons in the main window) I'd be happy to hear it.

This is old-school, something different from the way I've been doing the stacks lately. Function over appearance, which actually prevents the appearance from being crowded. *shrugs* I like how the eq animation is, but I'm not crazy about the sliders themselves. We'll see if they stay. Oh, Xenosomething! The three games I considered myself not familiar with are: Xevious, the original Bomberman (I've only played the more recent multiplayer ones a handful of times) and, in case you hadn't guessed, Ice Climber. ;) But now I bought Ice Climber, and gotten the hang of how it plays and how the animations go.

the load click state is barely noticable....maybe you can do something with that.

hard to comment as im not really familiar with the game, but the eq bars look really good.:)

and maybe you can fill the pl titlebar with something so it doesnt look bad when its not under the eq.

This screenshot shows the new pressed state of the load button. The video window is just about done now. I put it on top because that's where it goes in the game. I'm not quite sure how to work in the Gen window, but it's gonna be something simple, nothing fancy. And the MB will likely be a clone of the video window with alternate buttons.

The gen window is done, it's based on a results screen from the game. This pic is with the mbinner.bmp showing. I also did the mb and the mikro amp, but I didn't put up a screenshot because I don't have a way of even viewing either of those. Wow, I'm just talking to myself now :( But, the skin seems to be 100% done. If anybody can check the minibrowser and mikroamp, that would be great, otherwise I'll just assume it's perfect, and submit it. Let me know what you think of the cursors, too.

looks good....

....the playlist scroll slider is sorta hard to see....maybe a slightly differnt color or even a thicker border would help.

also reversing the color of the cursors in each window might be a good idea(make it red for the main and blue for the eq)as it blends in a little too much.

everything looks good and i think the lack of replies is something going all around lately.....people just seem to have more apathy toward classic skins nowadays:(

Love the cursors. Great Mikro as well. I can honestly say there is nothing wrong with this skin. It's soooooo good!

DING *Gives 32 (pretend) bonus points to tydogg* Yes, the seal-clubbing quote is from the Crazy Ernie's commercial from UHF. I'm reminded of it every time I play Ice Climber, even if the US version doesn't really have seals...
