can stream on LAN but not from Internet
I have managed to get the shoutcast server to stream music to a machine on my LAN with no problem.
When I try to get the same machine to connect to the server via the shoutcast directory it says "[could not connect]http://..." My server is listed correctly in the shoutcast directory. I have a netgear DG834G wireless lan/router. I have set up a service for winamp for ports 8000-8001 and associated that in the firewall rules to allow any tcp connections. I also ran the link at http://www.radiotoolbox.com/online_t...ntheygetin.php This returned the message "xx.xxx.xx.xxx:8000 is open - a server is running on this port" An ideas what to do next? |
Get your ip from www.whatismyip.com your link would then be http:yourip:8000/listen.pls

The real issue here is that unless your router supports local loop-back, you can't connect to your WAN IP address from inside your own LAN. Ther eis nothing wriong with your setup, thios on the outside can connect to it fine, as long as you don't have any errors in your DNAS log. i don't understand why someone would blank out there address, we can't test it for you if you do that. Post your listen link and we can let you know if it is working.

Thanks for the input. Yes you're right pretty stupid if the URL isnt included. But since I dont have a static ip address I wasnt sure if all the rebooting of my wireless router would give you the correct IP address when you looked at this. Anyway, I think your answer is probably the right one as I am not getting any errors in the DNAS log. Here is the current address... 81.154.51.17:8000 I would appreciate it if someone could post whether they can hear anything on this. |
yes I can hear your station, 40kbps 22kHZ, now playing is MC Metz. You can resolve your dynamic IP issues using www.no-ip.com
