My job digusts me.

I got a new job like 2 weeks ago as a sales rep selling Cutco knives, under Vector Marketing. The thing that digusts me the most isn't the past charges of fraud, or the fact that there is an entire community that despises this company, but that when I do a presentation of the knives to people, I am almost required to ask the viewing parties to write down people as referals. It seems so sleazy. I am not a begger. I do not beg for anything. I am probably going to quit.

Seriously, I feel like I need to shower after I do a presentation. It is simply that demeaning to me.

Yes, I will quit.

LollipopLustKil 30th June 2004 04:09

I'd quit.

You don't quit your job because you don't like it, you just go in and do it really half-assed.

ryan 30th June 2004 07:34

Then half-half-ass it :)

DragonSon 30th June 2004 07:41

I keep getting letters from Vector, but they promptly go into my Shredder. Tell your bosses to stop writing me, it's annoying.

Jochen 30th June 2004 09:01

quit now !

This is just so ... futile !

MonKeyRum 30th June 2004 12:42

Just cut yourself with the knives while your showing them. You'll be able to sue the company most likely for improper training. You'll also have witness's to their neglegance from the showing.

This way you'll be fat paid and won't have to work!!!;)

Bazman63 30th June 2004 12:44

My kind of advice. Nice.

aFfLiCtEd 30th June 2004 13:50

Too bad the "Contributory Negligence" defense would most likely succeed in that lawsuit.

horse-fly 30th June 2004 16:47

MonkeyRum, i'll slit my wrists, and if i survive, then I'll sue. And if I don't, I guess it wouldn't matter that much anymore.

MonKeyRum 30th June 2004 18:48

Todays law definition:

Contributory Negligence

An injured person's failure to exercise due care, which along with another person's (the defendant's) negligence, contributed to the injury.

Im learning!!!

dlinkwit27 30th June 2004 18:51

billyvnilly 30th June 2004 22:21

man, every kid in the united states gets a letter from vector around hs grad or while in college...everyone!

Bilbo Baggins 30th June 2004 22:59

why did you take the job on in the first place?

Boricuaso 30th June 2004 23:03

my first though is money!
lol

Bilbo Baggins 30th June 2004 23:05

So is mine, but I would have found out what the job entailed first.

Boricuaso 30th June 2004 23:12

i think this are lessons we learn, some times we take a job thinking its going to be greate, just to find out it just wasnt right for you. shit happens, just have to go out and find a new one, that how i see it, no need to stres over it.

horse-fly 30th June 2004 23:15

I actually took the job as I needed the experience, considering I had absolutely none.

Boricuaso 30th June 2004 23:19

experience in sales or just job experience.

horse-fly 30th June 2004 23:20

I just wanted experience. Any would do.

Boricuaso 30th June 2004 23:50

well i think youre better off geting experience in the field your going to want to be working on in the future, cus jumping from job to job that you dont like aint going to look good on your resume, it makes you look to future employer like your not stable and cant hold a job for a long time, even if thats not true, thats how they'll see it.

MidnightViper88 1st July 2004 05:10

Why not get job experience in something that would interest you?

Well, at least I wouldn't be interested in selling knives anyway...Don't know about you, but... ;)

horse-fly 1st July 2004 05:29

It was the only place that would hire WITHOUT prior experience. Hell, I would love to be a music store clerk and say stuff like "This job would be great if we didn't have the customers."

webthing 8th July 2004 12:02

How's the job going fly? I'm curious because my current job situation isnt so hot anymore.

Boricuaso 9th July 2004 00:17

horse-fly 9th July 2004 03:44

Independent Contractor for a 250$ Million company

It does sound rather snazy. :)

missyob 9th July 2004 12:04

Hey hon

If you like the whole concept of working with people and having fun with the public I have a friend in CA that owns a marketing company very similar to mine.

He and I started working together 10 years ago and then he moved to CA and started a company, I stayed here on the East Coast and developed my own.

We are still really good friends and I would be happy to refer you to him.

If you are interested let me know. It will be more of a real job for you and it would still be fun.

Good Luck
Missy

horse-fly 9th July 2004 16:26
