MP3 Pro and LC stereo??
In the audio settings for the MP3 Pro encoder I have it has a setting for 56K 44hz LC Stereo. Question: What is LC stereo, does that produce a "better quality" audio stream??
Thanks:D |
The LC stands for Low Complexity. Listeners using the mp3pro decoder will hear stereo, those using standard players will only be able to hear mono.
For the standard players to decode in stereo you would want to use the mp3pro stereo mode or dual mono. I've found that dual mono preserves more of the original separation when the source files are standard mp3 128k or greater. umm, just so everyone knows:
I discovered through testing that LC stereo is shit, just a reverb added to a mono stream through the deocder... |
yeah. i did some testing of my own after reading this thread and i was able to get some awesome quality (not cd, but awesome nonetheless) out of a 32kbps, 32khz Dual Mono mp3pro stream

oh. ive just gone one question. anyone know of a a way to get stereo or dual mono on a stream lower than 32kbps? because from my experience, not only is 32kbps the maximum most dialup users can tune into, but alot of dialup users cant even tune into that without buffering problems. and to make it even worse, the main target of my station is supposed to be able to play an MMORPG while listening. :?

yes it is possible with alternate technologies like Ogg/Vorbis. Otherwise you can drop the rate to 32kbps 11025kHz Stereo, it sounds pretty crummy but that's the best you'll get with mp3

crap. guess im gonna have to stick with the crummy 24kbps LC Stereo then. :(
