Streaming ASF Audio
 

Hi,
I am using Winamp 5.03c with the patch and I cannot get audio from this stream. http://stream.martin.fl.us:8090/test.asf
The video plays (although a little choppy) and the stream will play in WMP ok. I've tried it on three different computers. They were all running windows XP Pro. One was a Sony VIO laptop and the other two were custom PCs with Intel motherboards using the integrated audio. I have tried changing a few settings in the DSO plug-in (currently set back to defaults) but was still not able to get sound from the asf stream.

I get the exact same crash when I try to stream that url in either of Winamp 5 or Windows Media Player 6.4

Maybe I need to update my vp6 codec or something?

WMP9 plays it, but very choppily.
The weird thing is that in File -> Properties, WMP9 says:
audio codec: msmpeg4v2
video codec: mp3
which seems to be the wrong way round to me.

Most weird.

Is this your own stream? And if so, what encoder are you using?

ASF Encoding
 

The ASF is encoded here, but unfortunately no one knows how it is being encoded. It was setup by someone that no longer works for us. Do you think there may be an issue with how it’s encoded? (WMP version 8 seems to play better than 9 does.)

im curious to do you know:

what your internet conect is?

what the specs are for the computer running it are ?

and what FPS are you attempting to stream at? (i register 35-39 FPS)

i dont know anything about nullsoft encoders but i do know about webcam servers ...]

the one thing thats always been a problem wit that is if the FPS is high and the servers bandwidth is consumed by this your audio wont even make it out it jsut gets blocked

The server that it is streaming on is connected with a T1 line to the internet. The server is a linux box, but I'm not sure of the specs or FPS settings. I register at arond 32 to 38 FPS when I play the stream. I have also experienced this problem with other movie files on a few other sites. The next one I come across I will post the URL for that movie as well.
