playlist stream
I bought this digital media reciver by hp and set it up, I noticed that it supporst m3u files. Winamp playlist are in m3u, right? So, here is my problem, I want to trasfer internet radio using winamp to the reciver and the reciver can import playlsits. Does anyone know where i can find the playlist folder/file in the computer so I can allow the reciver to find it.
thanks. |
There isn't one.
To create one, first go to: 5.04 > Prefs > Media Library > Streaming Media tab: Streaming Media Cache Preferences > Modify Preferences and increase the number of streams to fetch (default is 500, though you can increase this anything up to 7000, which is approximately the full extent of the current shoutcast directory). Now go to: Media Library > Internet Radio Wait for the list to download (and filter it if needs be by using the genre drop-down menu or search query). Then hi-lite all results (left-click the top entry, and shift+left-click the last entry) You can now either send all results to the playlist window (by clicking the Play button) and then save the playlist to .m3u (Playlist window > Manage Playlist/List button -> Save) or you can right click any entry and select: Send To > New Playlist (to also store this list in the Media Library > Playlists section). Note, it's recommended that you repeat this procedure quite regularly, because some streams tend to change server/port quite regularly. |
i get that part...
I understand that i have to create a playlist so i just save it, but why should i take it more than 500. Also when I do that, I still can not get the m3u file so get picked up by the reiciever. Would anyone know if it is capable of streaming the audio. Is it considered a file the is physicaly attached or something else. The recicver only plays files that are physiclay attached to the computer. the reacicver supports m3u files. And when I create the playlist, I cannot find it through the computer, that is programs/winamp etc...cuz that is were I need to find the file to import it.
The reciver is the HP digital media receiver EW 5000, if that helps. thanks |
I've no idea about your receiver...
And no, you don't have to increase the value beyond 500 if you don't want to. If you follow my instructions... once you've added all the streams to the playlist window Click the "Manage Playlist" button (Winamp Modern Skin) or "List" button (Classic skin) in the bottom right corner of the Playlist window, and then select "Save Playlist" and save the .m3u to any folder you want. As to whether your HP receiver can play the Shoutcast streams from there... well that is something you will need to take up with HP support. |
