Winamp version 5.03a skips and jumps

Tried everything I can think of (still skips while typing this by the way,
even though media player works without problems).
Direct sound output v2.2.10 set to NVIDIA driver (instead of default Primary Sound Driver),
waveOutput v2.0.2a set also to NVIDIA driver, and tried every buffer option I can see.

Any ideas why this is so problematic?

Any 3rd-party plugins?

Try upgrading to 5.04.
Even better is to do a clean install.

After that, try the DirectSound output tweaks:

After installing 5.04

Still getting the problem, with 5.04 installed (again, even when typing this).

Any other suggestions please?

So you did read that thread?
Please follow the instructions by DJ Egg in that thread, and post back here the results.

That thread

Yep, read that, and dxdiag.exe did report DdEntry1 entry point could not be located in GDI32.dll. Other than that, it worked.
Used the test sound features, and everything seemed to work fine.

Only using winamp with .mp3 files at the moment, don't know if this happens with other file formats.

Interestingly, allow hardware accelaration turned it self off once I restarted winamp, so had to turn it on again.
Stayed on this time, but still did not solve the problem.
But enabling cpu usage control in the buffering tab seems to have fixed it (for now). Did all this about 3-4 months ago with 5.03a, and fixed the problem then, but started doing it again later (until re-install of 5.04, and update all settings)
