well, my processor came today...

I had ordered an athlon xp 3000 + (barton cored) with a 400 mhz fsb. The 400 mhz fsb was kinda hard to find (most of them have a 333mhz fsb)... they only had one in stock at newegg.com, and it sold out the day before I was going to buy it. ...so, i went and bought one elsewhere (3btech)

Anyway, so the processor came today, and all the documentation (receipt and stuff) said that it was the ATHLON xp 3000+ (barton) with the 400 mhz fsb... However, after looking at the processor, I noticed that written in pen were the words: "XP 3000/333". Wait, what? 333? Does this mean what I think it does!?

...It's probably nothing...

...What do you think? Did I get ripped off? (the 400mhz fsb costs more than the 333). I think I'll call customer support and see what they say...

deeder7001 9th August 2004 23:10

i'd call and see what's up with that as well.

squakMix 9th August 2004 23:26

Yea, well: I called, and they had closed for the day.

deeder7001 9th August 2004 23:28

it's not even 5 o'clock over here yet.

squakMix 9th August 2004 23:30

They said that they close at 5 oclock Indiana time (IN).

It was about ten minutes after four oclock (pacific time) that I called.

deeder7001 9th August 2004 23:33

that's still really early though. most places close at like 7 or something like that. i'm getting my hard drive and raid controller later this week from newegg.com. hope the same doesn't happen to me. this is exactly why i don't like buying stuff on the internet.

k_rock923 9th August 2004 23:38

newegg's usually pretty good. you should be fine.

squakMix 9th August 2004 23:43

Yea, the stuff I ordered from newegg came on time, and without any hitch or error. Everything was what I wanted/payed for, and it came quickly (I ordered a motherboard and cpu fan from newegg).

deeder7001 9th August 2004 23:47

how long does it take for them to ship stuff? my stuff was ordered on saturday. the tracking thing says it will get here on thursday. 3+ days for a shipment in CA? that's crazy.

squakMix 9th August 2004 23:57

It took 2 days for my stuff to arrive (I live in washington [not dc]).

deeder7001 9th August 2004 23:59

i live in CA. but i think the shipping time is too long for me to wait.

squakMix 10th August 2004 00:00

...What? I thought you already ordered stuff

deeder7001 10th August 2004 00:03

i got it ordered on saturday.

squakMix 10th August 2004 00:26

Then how do you expect to cancel it/why?

deeder7001 10th August 2004 00:29

i'm not canceling it. i need another hard drive. i have a 2.1 gig drive right now.

Rocker 10th August 2004 00:33

i got a barton cored athlon XP-M 2500+

running at 2.4ghz(effectivly a 3400+) @ (44C under load with a heatsink and a very slow fan)

USD $80

/me is proud

It has never come before, and I hope it never will.

That's just a picture of what can happen when you push a cpu too far (... too much overclocking and not enough cooling.).

k_rock923 10th August 2004 01:08

oh shit i thought that was your new one. I had no idea what to say.

oh. i guess that's why i never overclock anything.

squakMix 10th August 2004 01:28

well, If you do it smartly (know what your doing, and know your limit, etc) You can get serious improvement. It's not something to just throw away because it's dangerous, but it is definitely something that needs to be done with discretion.

sgtfuzzbubble011 10th August 2004 04:26

I've ordered a few things from NewEgg, and they've always been good. Good prices, and I always got exactly what I ordered.

deeder7001 10th August 2004 04:33

how long does it usually take to get to your house from the time fedex takes it from the newegg place?

sgtfuzzbubble011 10th August 2004 05:06

Well, I used the FedEx Saver shipping method most of the time, so it took over a week. It was cheap, though. :D

deeder7001 10th August 2004 05:17

that's a long time to wait. the fedex thing says it should be here by 4:30 on thursday.

sgtfuzzbubble011 10th August 2004 05:22

Well, mine told me that it would be here on XX-XX day, and sure enough, that's when it arrived. I guess it took that long because of where I live, but not sure. At any rate, I got what I ordered, I got it on time, and I got it in good condition. That's what matters to me.

deeder7001 10th August 2004 05:24

same here but i still don't like to wait for things too much. i'm an impatient person if you can't tell.

deeder7001 10th August 2004 16:22

i'm not paying for my stuff. my dad is. i think he paid for the 2nd day delivery thing. the tracking thing shows it's in LA right now. but it says 12:21 am
