Can Winamp play this one?
I figured that if DJ Egg and the other good guys who hang out here can't figure this one out, then it can't be done.
Using WA 5.04 full under Win2k with SP4. I'm trying everything to get Winamp to play the following stream w/o success: http://mp-mms-10.mpservers.net/jazzradio This is jazzradio.net from Germany. They used to have streams that could be played through WA, but they keep changing hands so often that I'm not sure they even know what they're streaming now. This stream will play perfectly in WMP 6.4 (I refuse to use anything later). However, it will not play in Media Player Classic 6.4.8.2 ("failed to render the file"), or in WA 5.04 ("Valid frame not found"). This does not bode well, but I'm hoping you guys can figure it out. All help will be very greatly appreciated. TIA. |
No, alas, it doesn't bode well.
If you right-click your link and select "save target/link as" you'll find that you get an .asx playlist file which contains the following: [Reference] Ref1=http://mp-mms-10.mpservers.net/jazzradio?MSWMExt=.asf Ref2=http://62.109.159.16:80/jazzradio?MSWMExt=.asf However, I can't get Winamp to stream & play either of those links. It starts to buffer, but never completes the cycle and just ends up in an endless buffer loop. I've added this url to the relevant section in the Known Bugs thread. QUOTE: -mms:// video streams are still broken with in_dshow, if filename.ext isn't specified at the end of the url, eg. mms://mplay.donga.com/bbc?.wmv or jazzradio (just enters endless buffer loop and never plays). If you change the extension at the end to .wma, then it does actually play the intro (well, just the audio part of it, not the video part) but doesn't move on to the actual radio/audio stream... eg. http://mp-mms-10.mpservers.net/jazzradio?MSWMExt=.wma So yeah, it's looking bleak my friend. Sorry :( ...unless ujay or anyone else can shed some further light? |
DJ Egg --
Alas and alack, something is rotten in the state of Germany. :D Well, no big deal. It would have been nice to be able to stream it through Winamp, but such is life. I'll just have to endure the pain and suffering of using WMP 6.4 to listen to jazzradio.net. Maybe someday they'll get their act straight. Anyway, thanks much. I appreciate it. |
