Menu problem with modern skins

On installing winamp 5.05 noticed that some user interface features don't work with the modern window, including:
- general preferences
- play file
-add file

There is no response to these, though curiously "play folder" works.

I have tried clean reinstallation of winamp and also installation of V5.04, but without success.

I suspect that this may have something to do with the dual head support on the Matrox G550 video card (switched to separate resolutions mode recently to fix a monitor startup problem from suspend). I noticed this problem seemed to also come up with Nvidia nview, a somewhat similar technology.

System configuration:

Athlon64 3200
MSI Neo platinum mother board with ALC 850 audio
Matrox G550 vido card with dual monitor support (separate resolutions)
Windows 2000 SP4, DirectX 9.0 and IE6SP1

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
Robert

Minor clarification - the reference to nview referred to other forum posts, not my own experience.
