monitor calibration

what programs do you guys use?

I bought a Hyundai 17" LCD monitor but really need to calibrate it, and possibly find a program that will help me remove geometric distortions.

any ideas? o.o

thanks all :)

Colors an issue for me, it's seems all my monitors are different. I've tried a couple online and wasn't impressed with the results.

I don't like the color callibration programs because my eyes can't alwys make out the small differences they look for

Use DVI, for great justice.

LOL! Well yeah.. but I'm into photo editing, so I kinda need it, part of the mistake was buying this particular monitor with only a 450:1 contrast ratio, oh well, another in a year or two :p

assuming that you're using photoshop for your editing, Adobe Gamma comes with it for free, and does a decent job. Just get someone with good vision to do all your monitors.

Nah, I ment the DVI digital input on your LCD monitor. I have 2 LCDs on DVI connections (including a new hitachi with a 450:1 contrast and 12ms response) and the colours are totally perfect.

If you only have an analoge d-sub input on your (otherwise totally digital) monitor, then bad luck!

yup, I have D-Sub 15, DVI out of the question then? =/

If you had the money, I would suggest: http://www.g4techtv.com/freshgear/fe...SpyderPro.html

LCDs still tend to be a bit shitty colour-wise, regardless of the interface.

The Adobe colour stuff works well enough for me. If you're not printing anything out, then there's not that much use in calibrating because everyones' monitors are different. If you are, then there's no subsitute for proofs on a proper profiled colour printer.
