ipod not recognized
I have windows 98 and I installed the driver for the ipod that can be found on the internet, I then got the plugin for winamp so I could use my ipod, now I have everything plugged in and winamp is not recognizing my ipod, I can's see it in the device menu, I have tried restarting my computer, If anyone knows how to fix this problem or has any ideas that would help, thanks.:)

Try running the itunes installer on the CD that came with your ipod. The installer is needed to identify your ipod to your PC. If you end up installing itunes you can uninstall it after and your PC will still see the ipod.

you need to check that the ml_iPod plugin is checking the right drive letter for the ipod.
You will also want to download the latest ipod firmware from apples website. The iTunes installer probably wont work, iTunes needs windows2k or XP |
Hey did you get that win98 usb ipod driver from ipod lounge( http://ipodlounge.com/forums/showthr...threadid=32462 there are also instructions in the thread on how to install it, read through it if you haven't already )?
The only way I got ml_ipod to pick up on the ipod being plugged in was to install that driver and than go to a friends and format the ipod with Itunes under windows XP. Than when I came home and plugged it in all was fine and works fine to this day with ml_ipod. I dont think it will be picked up until you format it for windows in Itunes. If you return it and get the HP Ipod you shouldnt have to worrya bout formatting it because I believe its already formatted for windows. I hope that helps. If not, send me a PM. I use ml_ipod on win98se with usb 1.1 |
