Boston Wins!

They come back for the second night in a row in the longest ALCS game ever played to bring the series to 3-2! OMFG IT WAS A GREAT GAME!

k_rock923 19th October 2004 03:03

That was one hell of a game

Yea it was. Jesus, 14 innings and one hit to outfeild does it.

Last night the same guy that hit the game running ball hit the game running home run in the 12th inning.

Boston Red Sox. Baseball.

They won Game 5 of the ALCS 5-4 in the bottom of the 14th inning. Game time was around 5 hours and 50 minutes.

Yep, it sure was. It was one hell of a game last night as well. Holy shit, seriously.

jakeledel 19th October 2004 03:30

it was the longest game in postseason history. i love long games.

squakMix 19th October 2004 03:40

Cricket is supposed to be long as hell...

ShyShy 19th October 2004 04:10

A cricket game is usually about five days long. They get tea breaks. Long ones :p

But, yeah, I've been trying to watch this series. Go Boston :D:up:

I wish we had cricket on TV here :(

Cognition 19th October 2004 13:49

You don't have cricket on TV?
Well I suppose we don't have baseball, so it evens out.

Cricket can take many forms, there are the five day test matches, which obviously go on for five days or so, but there are also one day matches where each side has a set amount of bowling opportunities, there are even instances these days of speed cricket, where it's played with even faster.

You'll also probably never see Cricket played outside of what was the old British colonial sphere of influence, places like Australia, Pakistan, India, the west Indies etc etc, anywhere the British Empire and rule used to be in force, yes it's played elsewhere, but you don't get anywhere near as big a following as you do in the 'old empire' regions.

I love a game of cricket, used to play at school, great game, nothing beats the smack of leather on willow on a hot sunny afternoon...

/Fact for Jaz, I share my real life name with a famous Aussie cricket player

BMWboy 19th October 2004 14:46

anybody else get the feeling that Boston is going to strech the series to game 7 and then lose in the late innings? I just don't think that the curse will be broken this year.

Yes, knowing the Red Sox, they'll find some way not to win.

d0rk 19th October 2004 16:39

I hope Boston loses tonight....:D

nah, they will lose the next game. They can't win in NY.

Widdykats 19th October 2004 19:09

:D

k_rock923 19th October 2004 23:29

All the yankee fans here in NY are pretty pissed that they didn't do it. Only 3 teams in history have taken a 3-0 series to game six.

missyob 19th October 2004 23:36

and at the same time no team has ever won a series from a 3-0 deficit :D

Go Yankees!!!

Come again?

Boston wins Game 6 4-2 at NY. Boston becomes the first team to come back from 3-0 to force a game 7.

GO SOX!

xenosomething 20th October 2004 04:31

::HEAD EXPLODES::

this better all just lead to an even more heart-breaking red sox loss to the yanks.............

.........or ELSE.

shakey_snake 20th October 2004 04:36

Either one will lose to the Card's.

The Yankees need to lose. Badly. I hate them.

This comeback has made me into a Red Sox fan. :D

ShyShy 20th October 2004 05:37

I'm seriously thinking about watching game 7 naked, hoping that it gives off good luck vibes or something like that.

Go Boston :D

@Jones:
[Hugh]Um... there've only been a few hundred international Aussie players :p *ponders* Oh! D'uh![/Hugh]

whiteflip 20th October 2004 06:55

I have a feeling that either NY will crush them or it will be very close and Boston will nudge it out. Its nice that the game probably wont be decided before the 7th inning. To bad I won't be able to watch it.

Widdykats 20th October 2004 09:48

We Suck!!! :(
Says a bunch of ol' Catholic School prayers..
says prayer to "The Babe", "Joltin Joe" and "The Mick"!
Forks "Siggy Evil Eye" to Boston.
There, I think I've got it covered!:D

k_rock923 20th October 2004 20:20

I'm doing my Mets fan duty and rooting for the sox. Go Boston. Plus, I really like the band.

Widdykats 20th October 2004 20:46

^And you live where?
*Plans to be a mild curse on The K's House*:p

toejam07 20th October 2004 21:18

While I'm not a big Boston fan (Manny Ramierez is a sell-out.), it is always fun to see the Yankees lose, especially when they go down so miserably. Go Sox!

k_rock923 20th October 2004 21:36

Manny Ramirez is one fine baseball player. I don't care what you think about him otherwise, you can't deny that.

@Widdy, I'm a Jets and Islanders fan too. I've always liked the mets for some reason. I dunno why. Buckner for mets MVP :D

Yes, he is an excellent baseball player. I saw his career take off here in Cleveland before he took off for more money and basically disowned the team that allowed him to shine. And, yes, I'm still just a bit bitter. But, yes, a fine player.

dlinkwit27 21st October 2004 04:04

THEY DID IT!

Namelessv1 21st October 2004 04:07

I can't believe it. They actually did it. After being down 0-3, they won four in a row, two in New York. Incredebile.

xenosomething 21st October 2004 04:23

this is a really good lesson.

i hate it...but they showed us what happens when you take things for granted.

GqSkrub 21st October 2004 05:20

no more curse for them. but who cares about baseball. i'm all about the Philly KEARSE!

ShyShy 21st October 2004 06:48

The curse of the Bambino is that Boston wouldn't win another World Series without him. So, that's one reason why I'm rooting for them. Plus, it's AL all the way for me in W.S. :D:up:

I said a really bad word in front of the rugrat when I saw the two runs on Pedro Martinez :igor:

My heart breaks for poor Jaz, deprived of his cricket, still I suppose there are other benefits.....;)

Heres a pic or two of Michael Bevan to keep him going..
