Blocking Internet
Hey I've got another tech question- I have XP pro and want to block internet on one account. I have been trying to google and all i can find is setting up a proxy- which is not feasable. I heard somewhere you can do it with group policy stuff, anyone here know how?

I think you can block the connectiosn, no mater if is an lan, internet, etc.
|
well its at school...this one kid we think was looking at porn, and thats why we have no internet, so I want to block everyone but admin(me) from having internet
|
The surefire way to block effectively is to firewall your whole subnet (setting your gateway policy to not allow anything in or out, or migrating your whole subnet to a private address block, e.g. 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x), and require everyone to login to a VPN account before they're allowed to connect ******d.

well, uh, i dont exactly know what that means, but it needs to be a simple no internet at all so noone can get him on. i was fucking with group policy but im not really getting it

Damn Griff I was hoping for your unplug the network cable answer and then you actually provide a feasible solution.

edit: lol who the hell looks at porn at school. In the schools here they watch what you are doing. Have your teacher try that sometime. |
If you want a proactive solution (stop the kid dead in his tracks), there's no way around setting up a proxy or a firewall with VPN.
Yes, both of these two probably require a lot of reading up. (Microsoft TechNet is a good starting point if your server environment is Windows-based.) But there's really no easy (yet still effective) solution. If you're okay with just a reactive solution (catch the kid after the act), try a complete TCP dump of the suspect's network activities, or install VNC on all workstations and then watch his every step. Then bust him red-handed (or single-handed). |
well see he got caught already. im almost just thinking about saying "fuck you" and not even letting him on
