If you like dance music read this -- Energy 92.7/5 in Chicago -- Help us out!

Anyone that had a chance to listen to Energy 92.7/5 in Chicago before they went off the air in 2003 knows how awesome of a station it was. Help everyone in Chicago to reclaim a dance radio station by signing the petition. Show your support for the dance format! Thanks :-)

i love you.exe

Unfortunately, online petitions rarely, if ever, work. if you want to make a difference, pass around pen & paper petitions.

MidnightViper88 5th December 2004 20:08

I care to use crayons, if you will...

mysterious_w 5th December 2004 20:14

I signed it, what the hey. I'm number 160.

S-uper_T-oast 6th December 2004 00:17

Fuck it, no one cared to save beat radio here in minnesota, so why should I try and help other people out...

because if everyone thought like that then there would probably be no dance radio anywhere :winamp:

Germ 6th December 2004 01:27

I fail to see what's wrong with that

ryan 6th December 2004 02:40

Agreed.

Mattress 6th December 2004 02:45

I liked energy 92.7/5 they played a little too much cheesy stuff though.

Why'd they go off the air? and how will a petition get them back?

that's a very good reason not to sign !!!!!
worst music they ever made , always the same stupid beat

Mattress 6th December 2004 05:20

You'd be suprised how many pop/rock/rap/country/whatever songs use a 4/4 beat :p

S-uper_T-oast 6th December 2004 21:34

Online Petition = Useless

Better way to spend your time= killing the FCC and other companies monopoly on radio waves.

Good luck with either of them...

AND - - I want to personaly say I hate you with a vengeful passion if you ever think all dance music is the same. I'd explain, but I don't really care enough to educate any of you right now, especially when you probably won't even listen/care.

Certainly all dance music is not the same, not even close.

Try here if you are interested.

4/4 is a time signature not a beat. 99% of all music ever is on 4/4 time.

And the thing about dance is that it's always a C-kick keeping the beat, and it's always the same tempo.

Mattress 6th December 2004 22:49

that statement shows that you haven't thouroughly explored the electronic dance music genre(s)

shakey_snake 6th December 2004 23:07

I cant find a reason to, I don't dance.
[edit] but everything I have come acrossed is really annoying.

Mattress 6th December 2004 23:14

I don't dance either and it's the only music I listen to, heh.

shakey_snake 6th December 2004 23:22

then give me some examples of dance thats not total shite. I like expanding my musical tastes.

(and you do conceed that the average person does run into good dance music unless they look for it correct?)
I usually consider the good electronic music
I here "techno", or industrial.

Mattress 7th December 2004 00:16

some dance/electronic groups/artists I consider good:
BT
Faithless
Shpongle
Paul van Dyk
Hybrid
Way Out West

what do you mean when you say "techno" are you referring to those popular groups from the early ninties, like snap and 2 unlimited? or are you talking about banging, soulless, mechanized, detroit techno?

Psythik 7th December 2004 00:41

ATB, 4 Strings, and The Love Vigilantes are good too.

Techno sucks. Trance Rocks.

Smeggle 7th December 2004 01:28

Infected Mushroom
Void
Raja Ram (Shpongle)
Space Tribe
Leftfield
California Sunshine
Astralasia
Royskpp
Digital Trybe
Deep Forest
K.L.F.

meh the list is endless...

And most lsted have very different tempos ranging from 110bpm to 150bpm....

Heres a good resrc
Psynews

edit: nearly forgot G.M.S. Fooking Awesome!! My mate mark (DJ Tantra/Peacefrog) has just worked with em - can't wait for the new cd.. :)

THAT'S THE SITE!

I have been looking for that site for sooooo long! I looked through the whole thing once, but then I lost the url. That is one of the best resources for showing the evoloution/differences in electronica music.

Mattress 7th December 2004 02:32

and quite funny as well :D

Phyltre 7th December 2004 02:37

Why don't more genres define themselves by BPM? I've discovered that I have a special love for fast music, but you can't just walk into a music store (or go online or whatever you do) and ask for "some fast music"...

Wish you could though. It'd make ME a lot happier.

Mattress 7th December 2004 02:41

for electronica, fast is generally called hard or hardcore, AKA Happy Hardcore = really fast crazy ritalin music

drewbar 7th December 2004 04:19

Energy 92.7 moved to Phoenix, and for one am quite happy to keep it here. :D
