4th Grader Suspended Over 'Jello Shots'
NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (AP) -- An 8-year-old girl was suspended for nine days for bringing to school what appeared to be about 30 "Jell-O shots" -- though it was unclear whether they contained alcohol.
The incident occurred November 29, as the girl stood after classes outside Geraldine Boudreaux Elementary School in Terrytown, a New Orleans suburb. A teacher spotted liquid dripping out of the student's bookbag and found what looked like the small cups of alcohol-laced gelatin that are sold in bars, schools spokesman Jeff Nowakowski said. http://www.cnn.com/2004/EDUCATION/12....ap/index.html |

Awww.... would have been a laugh to see all the drunk kiddies stumbling around. :(
|
i wonder if it was the mothers idea to stick them in her bookbag as well
|
What's it with these suspensions?
Wouldn't she be better off in school than stuck with mother all day? |
Hmmm. "it was unclear whether they contained alcohol."
And they suspended the kid? Why didn't they have it tested first? If it turns out there was no alcohol, I'd bet they get sued. |
Hmmmm. "This one contains alcohol. Now let me test the next one." :D

we arent allowed to have shotglasses in school, we arent even allowed to buy them at gift stores when going on field trips... maybe thats why she was suspended without actually testing the jello
|
Yeah, they can suspend kids for having plastic knives too. But, they hand them out in the cafeteria. People carry this shit way too far.
edit: BTW it doesn't say they were shotglasses either. It could have been plastic dixie cups. |
how would they know they were jello shots then? rather then just regular jello? isnt the only thing that makes them jello shots is the fact that they are in shot glasses? i thought i had seen 'non-alcoholic jello-shots' though i dont quite understand the point of that
though when i was in 5th grade, i packed my lunch, and there was this lunchbox cooler(in the shape of a polar bear) but the teacher felt it looked too much like a gun, so she tried to suspend me, the principal let me come back after my parents complained... yes, they take it way too far i just read another article, that said it was because of 'look-alike' drug(after testing, they determined there was no alcohol).. meaning they suspended her for simply having jello.. they definately take it too far... |

So if you have a root beer that comes in a brown bottle in that school, you should be suspended for having a "look-a-like drug" ?
|
You have to understand: If children get accustomed to things that look like alcoholic beverages they're much more likely to become alcoholics.
One step away from the path of righteousness leads to another. |
Maybe if the teachers acted more like human beings, the kids would grow up to act like them.

At least it wasn't heroine or somthing. It's a couple of lil jello shots. Beat the mom not the kid.
|
They had a full story and interview on the news here. The mom made alcoholic ones, they asked for regular, and they took the alcoholic ones on accident, or so they say :p
