Biggest eqivalent in Denmark is only some 500000 square feet

In the US, a city with a population of 50,000 seems to be enough to build a Walmart. :D

gaekwad2 21st December 2004 19:22

But scandinavians have taste.

You wouldn't find 50,000 people there who would want to shop at Walmart.

Do they taste good?

jerimiah40 21st December 2004 20:13

There are not only wal-marts in USA!!! I live in Manitoba, Canada, and I can think of 3 of 4 right off the top of my head - 1 in Winkler, Manitoba, and 2 or 3 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

A scandinavian Wal-Mart would have things that are scandinavian in them. Besides, many of the sections would be the same - there just isn't that much difference from one XBox game to another.

gaekwad2 21st December 2004 20:50

I was judging it based on the German Walmart, which is crap.

No, a college town of only 2000 is sufficient enough to have a Walmart Supercenter built. Also, the town population is less than 9000. At least where I go to college, Walmart thought it would be nice to have it built for our convenience.

xzxzzx 21st December 2004 21:18

Ha. :D

What about the surrounding area, though?

henry3k56 21st December 2004 22:13

All rural, deserty. How could anyone survive in the surrounding areas?

mikm 21st December 2004 22:47

We could see if a website has a monitor/keyboard combo, DrO. Anyways, we just need to get a cheap keyboard for matt. Or a brain. Whichever is easier.

MaTTFURY 21st December 2004 22:50

I'll throw in $200 bucks...

Timbaland 21st December 2004 23:00

Set up an ebay page and see which one gets more money:

Only about 40,000 here in texarkana. On texas side, the other half of town (in arkansas) has a 2nd one and their population is about the same as ours.

For those that didn'tknow,

Quote:

Texarkana is actually 2 separate municipalities. The state line runs through the center of the post office; the 2 city halls are 2 blocks to either side of the post office. Texarkana is a major RR junction and center of transportation and trade for a large agr. and pine forest area. Its many industries include cotton processing, lumbering and woodworking, and the mfg. of tires, ammunition, pulp and paperboard, medical equip., RR ties, and cooking oil. Huge Red R. Army Depot—a fighting vehicle maintenance and military supply depot. Seat of East Texas State Univ. at Texarkana and Texarkana Col. Wright Patman L., large reservoir to the SW, serves as a resort area. Inc. 1880.
It's cool, if you go on state line avenue you can have one testicle in arkansas and one in texas, but both in texarkana :D

It's cool having 2 walmarts about 4 miles from each other.

We have about 25,000 people living in the area my my town. And they all seem to be at the Walmart all of the time. It's a literal madhouse. The store and the parking lot is always crowded. In fact I try to stay as far from Walmart as I can. That was easy, until a few months ago when our Kmart closed down, proabaly because of Walmart. Now I try to shop at other, smaller stores, in the mall. The prices may be a bit higher, but it's not Walmart.

Sounds good. So we kill matt, take his money and collect on his life insurance (assuming he has any. I'm guessing he does: his parents probably realize he'll kill himself Darwin Awards-style sooner or later) and use that to buy new stuff for everyone who helped.

MaTTFURY 22nd December 2004 04:33

let's see is Walmart... the "downgraded" version of Epic or something... the way you guys describe its sounds like where a bum would shop therefore insulting me...

henry3k56 22nd December 2004 08:25

Walmart is your basic store to get anything you need for the insides of your home.

These stores are like 4-5x or more larger in size than an everday grocery store.

I do enjoy the self-check out lanes. Out in seconds, I'm that fast at scanning my own groceries. :D

White Raven 22nd December 2004 08:29

walmart is fucking cool man

Yay! Someone realizes the coolness of Walmart. It's like an electronics store, grocery store, drug store, toy store, and sports store, all rolled into one, but it's open 24 hours! Genius! It's the only place to go for a video game at 3 AM. :D

Myxomatosis 22nd December 2004 15:49

Too many ganstas.

And of course, nevermind that it is steadily destroying the American small business and unions and has outsourced everything it can. It's convenient!

Correct.

In the UK Wal-mart owns ASDA, the biggest, cheapest supermarket. It is probably very much like Walmart (I´ve never been to one). Personally, I like Sainsbury's, which is apparently going down the drain according to my dad.

MaTTFURY 23rd December 2004 08:12

anyone that needs to go to "walmart" at 3am must be craving for some real 24 hour gaming...

protegechris 23rd December 2004 08:18

Not I :p

henry3k56 23rd December 2004 08:27

The power of Walmart is great that my roommates and me drove out 40 miles to the closest Walmart to get games, food, and enjoyed the drive, at 10:30pm. :D

yeah, Sainsbury's isn't in that great a position considering how much asda and tescos take of the market

-daz

Schmeet 24th December 2004 15:46

I find Tesco is much better quality for lower prices. Never really been to Asda, might have to go one day.

**Organises day trip

DrO 24th December 2004 15:50

yeah, i tend to do tesco as well (since it's just up the road from me) though for cheap but decent clothes asda is always a sure hit :)
