Happy New Years INDEED!

Okay, so I got a coding order from a radio station needing some work done, and needing their servers maintained.

I gave her a quick quote around 50 dollars to do one or two little quick things, and told her I would install the software on her computer for free.

She proceeds to ask me, "Do you have an Amazon.com wishlist?"

I respond yes, and give her the link.

She see's that a violin is ranked #1 of things I want. She asks if I played, I said yeah, for about 3 years now.

She says, "Well, why don't I buy you this in exchange for your work?"

I go through the whole "It's too expensive, don't worry about it" routine, and she proceeds to purchasing the violin for me.

I tell her how much I appreciate it, and I said "This is awesome, now I'll just pick up an amp and some cables and I'll be rockin!"

Then she says, "I'll get you the amp, which one would you like?"

So now I am getting an electric violin, and an amp for something that I wouldn't have charged much for.

It's new years eve here too, but I HAD to post this.

Makes you think differently about people, there are still some nice ones left in the world I guess :)

ElChevelle 31st December 2004 14:12

Fuggin' A!

I never even knew electric violins existed but that one is SHWEET!

xzxzzx 31st December 2004 14:12

That's great. There are some generous people left in the world...

If you think those are cool, you should check out electric double basses :D

ElChevelle 31st December 2004 15:46

Are there electric harmonicas too?

MidnightViper88 31st December 2004 15:50

Yes, actually... :D

ElChevelle 31st December 2004 15:55

Doesn't anybody just blow anymore?

On harmonicas, that is.

MidnightViper88 31st December 2004 15:57

I ain't got the mouth power... :(

protegechris 31st December 2004 16:02

LOL, used it :p That's why I'm not in the band anymore. Ugh, I know how to play bassoon :igor:

See, what I originally looked at was this fender, but I think the one I got not only looks more beautiful, but is actually IN my ability of affording :p

By the way, I plan to start writing tabs for this song AS SOON AS I get it.

I love playing the harder genres on violin, it's more common than it used to be, but still not used enough in modern music, if you ask me.

I was at the trans siberian orchestra concert the other night and one of them was playing an electric violin. sounded pretty cool. That's awesome that there are people that generous in the world.

protegechris 31st December 2004 16:40

I know K_rock, I was beginning to think there were no good people left in the world, and someone like this comes along and changes your mood and opinion completely.

The software's makers do the same work I do, but for 35 to 50 dollars an hour, so if you look at their prices it comes out still cheaper, but wow. Just wow. I love people like her, otherwise this is one dream that would have never have come true for me.

I actually just setup my wishlist a few days ago, wow, I'm glad I did.

I also searched froogle and apparently this is the cheapest you can find it :)

Lucky bastard. All I'm getting for the new year is a new computer.

All I got for new year was my two front teeth.

That'll teach me to get fresh.

protegechris 6th January 2005 13:35

It's even more brilliant than in the pics.

Here's about 4 I took, I haven't cleaned it up too well yet. I'll take more when my amp comes.
