Is it just me, or has advertising gotten more aggressive lately?

Is it just me, or has advertising gotten more aggressive lately?

In the past commercials would elude to their competitors as "other colas" or "the 'king' claims...." or "leading competitor."

Lately (past year-ish) however, companies seem to have changed and now just flat out name and show their competitors product and name in the ad.

Anyone else notice this or just me?

yes that is definatley happening more and more.

I could be wrong here.. but it could have something to do with some sort of FCC law. It might have changed or something. I heard some crap like that somewhere...

NJK 8th January 2005 15:14

did you see the latest burgerking commercial??

they started using a clown that looks like Ronald MacDonald ( raincoat and hat to mask that) that orders at burgerking

I don't know about adverising, but the spammers around here sure have gotten a lot more aggressive over the last year or so, just look at all the dregs in the attachement...( there is a good chunk missing from this screenshot as well, had to trim some off to get the file size down)

protegechris 8th January 2005 17:25

I've noticed it too.
Funny they don't yell out "lykeomg slander" like a company or two I know..

yenerich 8th January 2005 19:49

Yeah, but im not sure if this new kind of advertising campaings are good or just makes more confusion in the mind of the people putting there many names and noise...

mikm 8th January 2005 20:50

Woah! Somebody actually posted THAT!? Thanks for the link ;)

Joel 8th January 2005 20:53

I can't enter :(

Although, FireFox + antispam apps, hide those ads... :)

mikm 8th January 2005 20:56

He must have changed the link after a few seconds.

beanboy89 8th January 2005 21:05

It's not a real link. Even if it was, you'd still not be able to have access.

electricmime 8th January 2005 21:16

does anyone know that annoying aol lady with the baby(shes in 3 commercials that ive seen, and stars in 2 of them)

and then those netzero commercials began to make fun of them... remaknig the entire commercial, but changing one or two things

the two commercials are exactly the same, like the one where every member has an idea to fix aol(when every customer is dissatisfied, thats not something to brag about) and then netzero did the exact same commercial except they said instead they were leaving to go to netzero instead of here to fix aol..

i didnt know they were allowed to make the commercials so similar, though i only saw them a few times.. so maybe they arent allowed to

Yeah, I've seen those commercials. They're almost identical. It's funny that the lady with the baby is complaining about how she wants "protective" features with her isp to safeguard her kids, yet she willingly hands her baby off to a complete stranger to make her speech while atop a table.

Cognition 8th January 2005 23:04

Maybe she could have done with some protection earlier. :p
