Delayed school today

Agh. It doesnt snow friday, but instead snows saturday and sunday, and today school is delayed because of yesterdays snow.

Anyone else getting snow in their neck of the woods?

missyob 10th January 2005 14:16

No snow here. It has been in the 60's. Yesterday it was so sunny and beautiful out. I cant believe it is January.

mysterious_w 10th January 2005 14:24

No snow, but we had big gales on Saturday morning, we had no power for 3 hours.

MStar 10th January 2005 14:31

Yep. And it rarely snows here.

squakMix 10th January 2005 14:35

same here - I live right by the water (well, within a half hour of it)

DuaneJeffers 10th January 2005 14:37

San Francisco never snows :( and I don't think my school would ever call a snow day.

i prefer the cold.. so this weather isnt bad, but i prefer snow in the winter time

it never snows good here though.. its always ice and crap that gets schools cancelled.. nothing you could play in

missyob 10th January 2005 18:40

electricmime where do you live?

Mrs_Mia_Wallace 10th January 2005 19:37

We don't have snow right now but even if we did, we'd still have school, there have to be more than 4 foot of snow until something closes down at all I guess, I've never seen any closing down happening though, it's Switzerland after all :D

I even went to Uni 1 hour earlier than I was supposed to because I still had to solve Physics problems with friends, I'll do the same tomorrow for my Organic Chemistry work :(

Mia:)

So far, this winter, has been mild for my location; no snow yet. I hope it does snow, though.

This is great! I got out and worked on the old cars in a t-shirt & jeans over the weekend.

I do miss the snow in Detroit though!:(

Cognition 10th January 2005 21:14

Only about 70 degrees today but still no snow.

EazMan 10th January 2005 22:39

we had some snow, but freezing rain to (thats why they closed school!)

Namelessv1 10th January 2005 22:45

No snow. Plenty of rain, though. There was a tornado warning this morning, but the school thought it prudent to keep classes in session.

billyvnilly 10th January 2005 22:45

we had 2 days of freezing rain which cancelled 1 day of school...but rather than cancel it and put the lecture off, the instructor had us stay an extra 2hrs the day before.

i think we are getting more freeezing rain tonight.

:p It only snowed a couple of inches (most of it was off the roads).

Yea, we dont get alot of snow here (obviously)

TheMilhouseMan 11th January 2005 12:48

We had no power for 13 hours and some people still don't have power and it has been 5 days since the ice storm here in Indiana..

Wolfgang 11th January 2005 14:58

I wish it would snow again in London. The last two years it snowed for two days, enough for the students to congregate in hyde park and chuck snowballs at the open deck tourist buses and the rich fuckers in their bentleys and range rovers.

mark 11th January 2005 15:29

there was snow over christmas here in 'sunny' northern ireland. a nice big storm with 100mph winds is expected this evening...

Mike H. 11th January 2005 16:11

It snowed here the day after Christmas. Within a week the temperature went up to about 75 and everyone was wearing T-shirts. Ya gotta love North Carolina weather.

mark 12th January 2005 07:34

big storm was a big pushover. bleh. boring ikky cold wet weather.

Too-DAMN-Much 12th January 2005 08:36

@ mia : wow 4 feet and still school, the schools here close if there's an inch (regularly too)

Mrs_Mia_Wallace 12th January 2005 20:51

Yeah but it's Switzerland, I've seen people going up a mountain with the roads full of pure ice with chains around their wheels so they won't slide that much

Up in the mountains there's snow almost year round, they'd never had school then...where I live it doesn't snow that often but in th cities they usually have cars that clean up the streets right away in the morning in case it snowed.

Mia:)

electricmime 12th January 2005 23:05

here they close when theres a little bit of ice.. they used to not, but like 2 buses crashed and a bunch of kids died, so now they close for anything..

electricmime 14th January 2005 04:22

another reason to love this great great weather.. we just went through a tornado warning.. in january -_-

Coman 14th January 2005 04:48

it's summer here in nc. but how does it not snow in london? there is plenty of snow in ukraine and its even closer to the equator than london.

mark 14th January 2005 16:11

london is more costal?

CaboWaboAddict 14th January 2005 17:51

They close everything here if there is a chance of snow! People raid the stores for T.P., milk and bread. Also, everyone forgets how to drive.

Wolfgang 14th January 2005 17:56

Jesus, in that case I wonder what driving would be like if it snowed in Lima... anarchy.
