Lol.

That and we seem to be on very different sides of the music spectrum..

Cylob 1st June 2005 06:46

I'll listen to anything except "the mainstream".

How my fellow humans can prefer the "Crazy Frog" over "The Bravery" will forever be a mystery. Even my dog can tell the difference (and spaniels are the thickest of the thick)!

Spazz333 1st June 2005 06:51

"The Mainstream" isn't so bad, I listen to quite a bit of it. There is a whole lot of it that is complete and utter crap but then the underground stuff is much the same to me.

I think I'd rather claw my ears out than hear whatever the hell the Crazy Frog song is. From other conversations it's connected to cell phone commercials at night, which I would rather hang myself than watch.

YtseJam 1st June 2005 06:58

Dream Theater - Octavarium.

Print 1st June 2005 07:03

Most mainstream rap is garbage too. Mike Jones.. honestly WTF is that garbage?

Cylob 1st June 2005 07:41

You just said it, garbage!

Print 1st June 2005 07:43

Rap isn't garbage. Just alot of the popular stuff.

Doggy Dog 1st June 2005 07:45

Flogging Molly - Within A Mile From Home

Great album, maybe one or two boring songs (like the collaboration with Lucinda Williams ), but with some stunners like Queen Anne's Revenge (a must hear, trust me).

System Of A Down - Mezmerize
Great. Nuff said.

The Strange - Coming Undone (single)
Includes some live songs from a concert I've been on !!!

Cylob 1st June 2005 07:47

I know, I have many an excellent rap album.

Haha. Good Rap, by Spazz. (I could be wrong because I'm far from a rap expert but why the fuck not.)
Atmosphere - Seven's Travels

Print 1st June 2005 08:30

I don't think I have one song of Busta Rhymes.. come to think of it, I don't think I could even name more than one song of his..

Method isn't bad though. Never heard of Atmosphere..

Cylob 1st June 2005 08:32

I knew you were a man of many flavours Spazz. :)

Some of my faves (from memory). It's hard to put a finger on it at work (and 10 minutes till a presentation for which I've prepared absolutley bollox all). Ah well, I'll blame it on rap music.

A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory
Atmosphere - Lucy Ford
Dalek - Gods and Griots
Dynamo Productions - Analogue
Public Enemy - Apocalypse '91
Disposabl Heroes of Hiphoprisy - ST

Print 1st June 2005 08:34

Your into that vintage hip hop type stuff huh..

And who the hell is Atmosphere? Time for a google search..

Cylob 1st June 2005 08:56

That's the beauty of a forum (with taste). :)

Spazz333 1st June 2005 20:11

Atmosphere is a half white/black rapper from the mean streets of Minneapolis MN. :) If you wanna check him out I'd say pick up "Trying to find a balance" first.

ScorLibran 5th June 2005 20:02

I've gotten heavily into alternative rock lately, and the following three albums I've recently purchased are a big reason. Most of the tracks are obscure or semi-obscure in the US, but I'm sure they're more popular in the UK (where these albums are produced). Some of the bands on them I haven't heard of before. I've marked my favorite tracks with three asterisks ("***").

That's you sorted then Chris. :)

What did you think of "Dr Baker" by The Beta Band? The video's shot in an indoor pool, it's one of the most bizarre things I've ever witnessed.

Cylob 27th June 2005 06:16

Killing Joke - Night Time (1985)
http://stat.discogs.com/R/409587-1109591297.jpg

Kraftwerk - Die Mensch Machine (1978)

The White Stripes - Get Behind Me Satan (2005)

A bit of a disappointment cos I prefer their faster stuff, but the album's pretty good anyway.

Cylob 14th July 2005 16:02

Ulrich Schnauss - Far Away Trains Passing By (2001)

Superpitcher - Happiness (2004)
http://stat.discogs.com/R/308858-1094908892.bmp

Reminds me of dubnobasswithmyheadman, only in electro.

MidnightViper88 14th August 2005 20:15

Alice In Chains - MTV Unplugged (1996)

http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0...CLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

Layne Staley is just hauntingly dramatic, putting on one of AIC's better performances, especially as an acoustic setup...Jerry Cantrell's a great guitarist, but his backup vocals really shine too, especially as a match for Layne's...

Metaphor 18th August 2005 20:40

i like the second disc in the top: Shellac - Terraform (1998) very cool :)

shinobi 20th August 2005 01:40

Sage Francis - A Healthy Distrust

Been in a rap mood lately. Very odd indeed.

Quote:

Not enough poisons to pick to enjoy this life
Now I thought suicide was a suburban myth
I couldn't see my own hands being the ones I'm murdered with
That is until I travelled this world a bit
I understand now if I lose my nerve I'll get the girl to do it!
She heard the music but preferred the person, she's worth it
The only one I left behind the curtain to work with
Pushin' buttons and playin' with levers
We'll stay together as long as I'm honest in my songs
(Radio) Suckers never play this
Scared shitless of dismissing clear channel playlists
Poorly developed, yet highly advanced
The black music intertwined with the white man's line dance

Various - International DeeJay Gigolos CD Eight (2005)

http://www.discogs.com/image/R-425195-1111979699.jpg

Not as electroclash as previous releases, perhaps DJ Hell's bored? Still, some decent tracks, P.O.D. sound remarkably like Duran Duran. :D

Kaizers Orchestra - Ompa Til Du Dør

http://image.allmusic.com/00/amg/cov...72380lyrte.jpg

Odd, but strangely compelling Norwegian folk...rock? band. The main song (Kontroll Pa Kontinentet) is extremely catchy. The rest isn't far behind.

Spazz333 14th September 2005 09:41

Pantera - Vulgar Display of Power (1992)

http://image.allmusic.com/00/amg/cov...132341b24x.jpg

I heard walk on radio and it made me all obsessed with this album again.

Cylob 14th September 2005 11:45

Vulgar Display of Power must've been one of the first parental advisories. I notice it's placed prominantly on the cover (as a selling point). :)

Bella Morte - Where Shadows Lie (1990)
http://www.discogs.com/image/R-418800-1110810046.jpg

Class piece of darkwave.

OutlawJim 19th September 2005 21:18

Awesome. Haven't been so good since These Days. I'm so pleased :D

Spazz333 20th September 2005 08:03

Heh, That label draws teenagers nicely. I bought that CD from a friend who hated it for a whole buck, ended up being one of my high school favorites.

Bad Religion - The Empire Strikes First

http://image.allmusic.com/00/amg/cov...35539rbljf.jpg

"More a question than a curse, how could hell be any worse?"
