Give me your guys opinions :weird:

Mr Jones 28th January 2005 09:44

Best of luck integrating buttons and what not into that very complex image.

If you pull it off can I recommed you do dogs playing pool as your next project, a kind of companion skin ..

sledheads_dave 28th January 2005 10:05

So far so good.

And far as the dogs playing pool is concerned. i've thought about it. Possibly in the near future. I wanna see how this one turns out first.

no promises

k_rock923 28th January 2005 14:04

That looks good actually. I really like it. What do you plan to do with the EQ, and other windows, though. I especially like the license plates, if that's what they are? They look cool.

LuigiHann 28th January 2005 19:30

I love the license plate idea, but I don't like the white numbers on the green lamp. Maybe pick out some states with green license plates? I think there are/were some, at least one...

tydogg 28th January 2005 20:01

Speaking from experience, putting in buttons is going to be a huge pain in the ass. Good for you if you can pull it off, its a cool idea.

sledheads_dave 28th January 2005 22:21

The equalizer is gonna be a bunch of animated cards falling from the table and thats a good idea about the licence plates i may concider it

Vermont and Colorado both have/had white-on-green liscense plate numbers.

I don't know about that. He's aligned the picture so that each cbutton will be directly over one of the dogs. So I guess that for the cbuttons, their eyes will light up or their mouths will open or something. That wouldn't be very usable, but it wouldn't be cluttered.

It's usable heres my progress.

Im going to bed

k_rock923 29th January 2005 15:48

That's a pretty good idea for the EQ bars.

Speaking of ideas, i've about ran short. im about to make the buttons plain and just leave it at that. the on/off button for the equalizer, i find the most difficult not the slightest clue what i'm gonna do about that.

I got to thinking about the situration about the light, if i were to change the color to white. it would correct alot of the problems.

I'm really puzzled right now i could really use some ideas "I'll even include your name in the credits" :)

LuigiHann 30th January 2005 00:38

I'm having pretty much the same problem with my Love Hina skin right now. Plenty of room for buttons, but no decent ideas. For you, how about just doing them playing-card style? Just have little aces floating at whatever angle, and replace the suit symbol with the button symbol. Might get old after a while, but it's a thought.

sledheads_dave 30th January 2005 01:41

That could possibly work i'll experiment alittle.

I thought about your skin and immedently, i thought how good those hearts would look plunging down the equalizer on a alex. similar to mine but not the same concept.

Somthing to concider the buttons could work on alexes aswell.

sledheads_dave 30th January 2005 02:56

Have the play buttons swing back and forth in different directions, i think that would look great.

LuigiHann 30th January 2005 03:53

What do you mean by "alexes"?

sledheads_dave 30th January 2005 06:01

axles* My mistake. :D

You gotta love that LCD Display.

cause im getting rid of it. :)

k_rock923 31st January 2005 20:28

Rush -

And the skin looks good too!

LuigiHann 31st January 2005 23:26

I miss the lamp T_T
Maybe you could make one big lamp and 2 small lamps?
And, what is that $20 bill skin you seem to be writing over? I thought about making one of those a long time ago and never bothered.

sledheads_dave 1st February 2005 01:31

I concidered that 20 dollar bill to be a great addition to the theme, Poker involves around money. On the playlist buttons it reads "IN GOD WE TRUST" straight off the bill. But i still have not the slightest idea what im gonna do with the lamp. i feel that its almost mandatory to have "One" there. Three just wouldn't feel right at all with the complexity of my limitations.

I appogize for the progress but im only human. :)

If that was to my comment, I was complimenting your taste in music. Take your time on making the skin. Just look at how long ago the "After two long months. . ." thread started. I started that skin in september and am still not done with it. Another skin took me an entire summer to do.

LuigiHann 1st February 2005 03:19

NO! FINISH IT! FINISH IT NOW! I did my trigun skin in 2 DAYS! NO SLEEP!

Okay, I'm joking. Take your time. I have skins that take months, but it's usually because I stop after I do the easy parts. I know how you feel about the lamp, I had the same problem with that musket/rifle/machine-gun in my trigun skin. Just work with what works, I suppose. I like the card-based elements, looks fun. And the dollar bill stuff is cool, it just kinda looked like you were painting this skin over it, and I thought it could almost have been a different skin.

I FINISHED IT. I even includded the lamp and the license plates couldn't have done it without you.

Im gonna publish it now. :p

Mr Jones 2nd February 2005 10:24

I am eager to try this skin out for you, so hurry up with the link already......;)

sledheads_dave 2nd February 2005 11:35

Alright but i already published it.

Enjoy. :)

The file that you have tried to attach is too big. The maximum size is 102400 bytes.

I was expecting that

If you've submitted it to winamp it might be a couple of days to publish at the minute

Bug report...

Something has gone wrong with your gen.bmp file, non of the lettering is showing up, if I launch the media library all I see as the window title is....'A A' or was that intentional? having looked at it, you need to ensure that the delimiter between your letters is a solid colour all the way along or winamp just get's fucked up trying to seperate the letters, here check the revised attachment , I've seperated your letters with a solid red bar , now the library get's it's proper name when loaded...

I'll have more comments and pearls of wisdom for you later, but it's lunchtime now and I'm starvin so gotta eat...

Mr Jones 2nd February 2005 11:56

ah couple more for you...

you have an extra bitmap in there, main2.bmp any reason other than to make the .wsz bigger?

You also have mbinner.bmp and winampmb.txt, both of these files are used by the mikroamp plugin, and while it's cool you included them you didn't do a skin for the mikroamp plugin itself, and while this isn't part of the default skin most people include it anyway, you can read about it here...
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....d=134725#mikro

That's all for now..
Also, you have changed the spare background colour area on most of your bitmaps, not a problem in most cases, but it's recommended that you stick to the base skin colour for any unused areas, that is RGB 0,198,255, this is particulary important for the genex.bmp, read here ...
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....hreadid=140188

Right, really off for lunch now...

sledheads_dave 2nd February 2005 12:15

Back to the ole drawing board. I really appreciate your help i'll get to it first thing tomorrow morning nothing appears to be happening. Might even concider adding on afew additions. Right now im heading to bed.

Thanks, you really didn't have todo that.

Mr Jones 2nd February 2005 13:27

Not so much a bug, more of a cosmetic thing....

If it were me doing this skin, I'd change the eq_ex.bmp, for my money it looks a bit crappy with elements of the main window background image left over, particulary in view of the fact that the main window title bar and playlist shade mode look so different , just stick out like a sore thumb in my mind, but that's just my opinion, of which you are free to ignore ;)

Mr Jones 2nd February 2005 13:51

Hating me yet?

You've included the old avs.bmp file in your skin but not actually skinned it.

Now, you don't need to include this file as it's no longer used by winamp, however you might want to include it for legacy support for anyone still using old versions, especially as you've also included the old mb.bmp file and that's no longer used either...

Sooooo, either skin it or remove it, saves a few kb

tydogg 2nd February 2005 18:12

As far as looks, those labels for buttons and playlist menus in the big blocky font from the base skin look not good.
The 20 dollar bill playlist looks cool

sledheads_dave 2nd February 2005 21:50

I will admit i sort of rushed to finish it towards the end. This skin is just draining the life out of me taking longer then what i imagined. I'll take all your guys suggestions to consideration though. But it may be another two weeks or so until i can perfect it the way i like. Im gonna go pour me a cup of coffee now.

And no i dont hate you far from it.

sledheads_dave 3rd February 2005 01:41

Back to work.

k_rock923 3rd February 2005 02:40

Take your time. There's no rush.(Actually, there is, in your playlist HAHAHA) :p

I blame my dad.

k_rock923 3rd February 2005 19:02

<3 sledheads_dave's playlist

sledheads_dave 4th February 2005 06:25

Okay now it is finished!. Cleaned it up from top to bottom even took the time to clean all the template backgrounds and spacers and of course the unnessary files. Just wanted to say it was fun and that i appreciate everybodys help.

Thank you all

Mr Jones 4th February 2005 07:22

And where can we download it?

Wildrose-Wally 4th February 2005 07:25
