MaTTFURY 19th February 2005 07:23

deeder7001 19th February 2005 07:26

it's not crap. well it's not crap for me at least. looks can be deceiving.

Geiss 2 http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=134393

MaTTFURY 19th February 2005 07:32

no offense looks the same as sonic svp/u##

deeder7001 19th February 2005 07:35

i don't like geiss 2. i like the original better and only because my system sucks and i can't run AVS fullscreen very well. i have used AVS but i didn't really get into the making of presets.

MaTTFURY 19th February 2005 07:40

not my problem... i continued

mysterious_w 19th February 2005 08:01

Sorry about this all of you, let me take him away.

(MaTT, you can't force people to like AVS, just like you can't force people to like yourself).

MaTTFURY 19th February 2005 08:04

lol people like me, although i dont admit it

mysterious_w 19th February 2005 08:07

Whatever, do you see my point about forcing people to like AVS though? It doesn't work.

MaTTFURY 19th February 2005 08:11

no they havent seen quality :p

mysterious_w 19th February 2005 08:13

Soem people are just noty interested by flashing colours and 3d effects on their screens. Or maybe they have epilepsy and every time they open AVS they start to spasm.

i know what i'm talking about when it comes to stuff i like. it may seem crappy to you but it's good quality to me.

gaekwad2 19th February 2005 12:35

Or they have seen quality and realized they'll never be able to match it, and that there are more than enough people making crappy n00b presets already.

First semetser, I had to watch myself, because one of the guys acrossed the hall from me was an epileptic.

DrO 19th February 2005 15:32

the original giess pwns and without it no one would have milkdrop, smoke et al :D

having more avsu's is fine but if the presets are crap then is it really worth it? since i've seen some dire ones submitted at times to the winamp.com site

*shrugs* and goes to live in some geiss lovin'

I've got most all of the major visualization plugins, and imho, Geiss > Milkdrop > Smoke > AVS

S-uper_T-oast 19th February 2005 17:36

Matt, stfu.

BTW- Each visualizer has it's strength. AVS has complete user-customability by making and changing presets, but does not have advanced 3D effects or fast rendering, especially with larger(fullscreen) viewing.
Milkdrop has lot's of the same customability, but is not as easy to use/program. It also can't(at this time), do all the same effects that AVS can. Milkdrop does have better rendering capabilities with higher FPS at larger resoloutions.
Geiss just delivers mostly pre-built visualizations with limited customability. It is very good at rendering larger resoloutuion screens. Geiss has the ease of use with good rendering.
I don't know much about smoke, I don't really use it.

SO! In conclusion, each one has their own strengths and weaknesses, it's just what you wanna use it for. Fast, large rendering(Geiss > milkdrop > AVS) vs. intricate customization and creation (AVS > milkdrop > Geiss)
In this respect, milkdrop is pretty much the middle ground. But milkdrop can lick my llama :p

hehe, classic :D

ryan 19th February 2005 21:48

Milkdrop is geiss basically, but it allows you to create your own custom presets for it.

k_rock923 20th February 2005 03:03

I don't feel like dealing with the high level trig needed for AVS. I take advanced calculus and I still don't think I would be able to handle it.

Cognition 20th February 2005 04:10

OMG A MADE TEH STARFIELD AND A COL DOT THAT MOVS WIT THE BEAT I AM TEH AVS MASTA!!1

MaTTFURY 20th February 2005 05:21

well i think it takes longer to develop skills :p, its like my 2nd year I'm still not into 3D yet though, (I'm trying)... but it really wasnt the point ...i dont exactly like milkdrop though, but if you merged AVS x Milkdrop / geiss... that'd be way awesome

ryan 20th February 2005 07:33

No it wouldn't.

There's actually not much AVS can do that milkdrop can. Aside from APEs, and some advanced 3D stuff.

S-uper_T-oast 21st February 2005 13:57

Pretty much that's about it. From my experiance AVS is also easier to work with, but that could just be me.

I was wondering, does milkdrop support direct keyboard and mouse input for using in your preset? Since AVS can do that now it has opened the possibility for a whole lot of new things and it (on a small scale) is a very useful thing.
