Infectious (what's stuck on your virtual turntable)??

Bloc Party - Banquet

This band would slot right into 1980-2. We're all doomed!

Amplifico - 10p Mix

In fact, I discovered Deepsky totally by accident, through the PS2 game SSX3. I got their album "In Silico" because I liked "Ride" so much. Another killer track on this album is the opener "View from a stairway". Absolutely awesome

Gwen Stefani - What You Waiting For?

After the 20th listen it becomes painful. :)

Ah well Nick, no pain, no gain. :)

If you come across "Zambesi" by The Piranhas (during a late night) I'd pay handsomely for it.

bgesley 5th April 2005 23:24

True.....when I finally managed to stop listening to that and Helicopter, I got hooked on what might be even more infectious.

Kaiser Chiefs - Everyday I Love You Less And Less

Bloc Party leads on my winamp play count with 52 followed by that song at 26 (well, it's tied with Global Deejays - The Sound Of San Francisco, but I've had that one for ages).

And this isn't even my PC.

Honorable mentions:
The Chemical Brothers feat. The Flaming Lips - The Golden Path
Kaiser Chiefs - I Predict A Riot and Na Na Na Na Naa
Queens Of The Stone Age - Medication, Everybody Knows That You're Insane, Little Sister - In My Head
Death In Vegas - Hands Around My Throat

By the way... Deepsky's in SSX3 ?? It's not on the OST.... Found some great songs on that though. Possibly my favorite game soundtrack since... Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX and Fifa RTWC 1998.

Cylob 15th May 2005 10:42

Head Automatica - Tara Reid is a Whore

Infectious song of the moment : So Alive by Ryan Adams.

ScorLibran 18th May 2005 22:04

I've been hooked on psychededlic-era Pink Floyd lately. More than any other music I'll put the first hundred songs from this playlist on shuffle.

Cylob 31st May 2005 15:23

Does Floyd work on random?

I have 2 gems from "The Piranhas" in my inner recesses, "Tom Hark" and "Zambesi".

Oh dear!

The early stuff does. They didn't start making "one track albums" until they began their crossover into progressive rock (circa Atom Heart Mother --> Meddle --> Dark Side Of The Moon).

Cylob 1st June 2005 05:58

I have a Floyd defficiency, before I had a chance to get into them along came "The The". That was that.

Kinda like White Flag's "Rage Against the Machine are Capitalist Phonies"

I'm been listening to The Gathering - Amity too much for good health lately.

::edit:: That and Paradise Lost - Permanent Solution

You ever call 'The Floyd' progressive rock again and I shall catch the next plane to the states and find you - take you to the nearest fire hydrant and very severely wash your ears out...

I dunno - calling Musical Gods like these progressive...:p

Royskopp - So Easy Sublime Sound

ScorLibran 3rd June 2005 23:35

Pink Floyd was considered by many fellow Floydians to have been Progressive. With a capital "P" even. After they were Psychedelic, and before they were Art.

But it could certainly be argued that they went straight from Psychedelic Rock to Art Rock. Unless you're saying they were their own genre. I could go for that too. :)

Most definately :) They are after all one of the most innovative and original and probably one of the most formidabally influential bands in rock.

After the Beatles, they are also one of the most sampled bands in the newer forms of Psychedelic music..

Cylob 27th June 2005 15:18

Boyracer - "I've Got It And It's Not Worth Having"

These lot are so much like Mega City Four, right down to the vocals. YAY!!

Doggy Dog 27th June 2005 18:46

Zdob Si Zdub - Boonika Bate Doba

They're Moldavian, this is a song from the last Eurosong, there's some extremely cheesy English, the lyrics overall are a bit cheesy. No, it's not that irritating dance song that-must-not-be-named. It's ska. And it's great (and extremely catchy).

Cylob 29th June 2005 12:29

Neon - Lobotomy

Sounds vaguely like Blue Monday (around the same era), the slap/electronic/bass is somewhat infectious. Bastards.

It only works on the assumption that Pink Floyd is the greatest band evar.

Otherwise a lot of it will be rather boring.

On my turntable atm: Sonic Youth's 'late period' (everything after Goo).
Lots of filler but also a few really nice tracks (and most of the filler still makes for enjoyable background noise).

OutlawJim 29th June 2005 14:30

Kinya Kotani -- Glaring Dream
The Eurythmics -- Sweet Dreams
Basement Jaxx -- Plug It In

Reminds me of my "Dirty" days. :) Hendrix Necro is a damned fine piece, sounds like the studio's being raided midway (probably angry neighbours).

Polvo are quite similar, I'm just getting into them (circa 1990).

gaekwad2 29th June 2005 15:25

Ah yes, Polvo!

Spazz333 29th June 2005 21:43

Sexpod
Album: Goddess Blues
Pretty Thing

If by virtual turntable you mean permanently running through your head then this song fits.
