Working on a skin for VBulletin.

But I'm having a bit of a problem with my header.

I'm trying to add a 468x60 banner ad to my Aria Fluid Open skin, but it stretches the page out whenever I add the image! Check out
http://www.talkcrap.com/index.php?s=&styleid=7

See how the page stretches out? Do you know what I'm doing wrong?

In resolutions higher than 1024x768 it's ok :(

[off topic (ish)]I hate the look of these new Vbullitin boards? anyone else thing the 2.x boards are nicer (ie, this one)

[futher off topic] BRING BACK NINJA AND DARK STYLES! Damn you drewbar, taking the secret ones with you when you left!

protegechris 23rd March 2005 19:06

Yeah I'm not too thrilled about vbulletin at all...

VBstyles.com is where the skin was bought. When asked how to fix it , the tech support for them said " The code looks fine, if it doesnt work, put the banner somewhere else"

k_rock923 23rd March 2005 19:12

That is a lot of forums.

yeah, one of the reasons even getting vb3 near to launching on wa.com was because i spent many hours trying to get it to look like vb2. second reason was that it was decided not worth paying me for.

do you realise how much of a ballache multiple styles are when it comes to upgrade vb2 versions? A pain, i'll tell you. Of course, like most things vb3 fixes these issues too

mark 24th March 2005 11:24

:(

mysterious_w 24th March 2005 11:30

Secret styles? And I never knew about them? Awww.... crap. :(

mark 24th March 2005 13:06

they were only there for the first 4 months of your membership...

mysterious_w 24th March 2005 14:51

In the 1st 4 months of my membership, I didn't have the internet at home and only made I guess 40 or so posts.

anyone have a screenshot of them, I feel left out

k_rock923 24th March 2005 14:52

I actually only used them once or twice. I thought ninja was cool, but it wasn't practical for everyday use.

mark 24th March 2005 19:29

afterdark was nice. good on they eyes.

protegechris 24th March 2005 19:38

Problem is on this one:
http://www.talkcrap.com/index.php?s=&styleid=8

No matter what I do if I add a banner it adds that giant stretch. If i replace the banner with text it goes away

mark 24th March 2005 21:17

it seems to be an IE issue. Opera buggers up quite differently.. :P

k_rock923 25th March 2005 00:09

oooh. i like the mouseover effect on the buttons.

protegechris 25th March 2005 06:58

It's going to be a great site when he gets it all running and start the promotion, it's not doing too bad right now with gaining members with no promotion..

Fixed the skin problem, floating divs own me.

k_rock923 25th March 2005 23:51

I actually joined but it didn't want to let me post. :(

That's why when Sawg/Drewbar/whatever left and took the skins I cried foul. I think I talked to him in IRC or something about it, but I don't remember and my logs are toast. I loved the afterdark(nsds?) skin but I didn't really understand why he destroyed them when he left until I realised that if you're going to kick people who use you, you might as kick them with everything, including the extra skins You coded that They used.

Just like you CraigF, you don't get any respect from the people who use this shit and in fact it still pisses me off when I have these brown shit colored bars to the left and right of the boards. But it's not like I can code, and it's not like you got paid for any of the shit you did (unless you're lying:weird:) so it's ridiculous to look a gift horse in the mouth. I'm not trying to kiss your ass, but I know that coding is a pain in the butt and when you're running into problems like protegechris is running into it can be frustrating.

So yeah, afterdark was cool and Ninja style was neat in a train-wreck kind of way, but I'm certainly not going to whine about how I want them back.
