Don't Work on Shuffle !! (It's a fact)

I try in many diferent ways, and read a lot of topics in this forum (to learn more about this plugin) and, finally I can said: This plugin don't work on Shuffles.

The iPod is recognized by Winamp (don't disappear and no crash), show the files on it...but.. the transfers don't work.

1st Try:
When I use them, the ml_iPod transfer less files than the complete playlist.

2nd Try:
I try to copy files "manually" to the iPod Music folder and then, press "Probe iPod for Lost Files" (to re-make the iTunesDB). Many files were recognized, but when I play them, the iPod only recognize a few songs (the LOG's file, the iTunesDB and the iPod view playlist show all the files, but in the iPod "F"s folders, only a few songs appears).

3rd Try:
I make a lot of "F" folders, (F00 to F24) because I read (in this forum) that the ml_iPod use more than the 3 default folders (F00, F01 and F02). But, when I select the 217 files, ml_iPod only transfer 1 file !!!!

The 4th and last try:
I use the iTunes and transfer 217 files without problems.

I think that this plugin is better for other iPod models, but isn't yeat ready for the Shuffle model.

I try the latest 1.14 and I hope that a future release finally solve this problem.. and WORK FINE ON SHUFFLES !!!

(I don't want to use the iTunes... )

It does work with ipod shuffles, because I own one.

Get the iPod updater from www.apple.com/ipod
Use it to restore your iPod
ml_ipod will work fine.

Also, PLEASE DON'T PM ME WITH TECH SUPPORT PROBLEMS.

Why I need to download the updater?? (I don't need to "restore" my iPod.)

My iPod works fine,iTunes recornize the unit, O.S. recornize as USB drive and Winamp detects the iPod without problems.

The only function of iPod software (the "iPodService", no iTunes Software) it's to manage the "Use as File Storage" function, so then the OS recognize the unit as a FAT32 external drive and no disappear when you close iTunes.

ml_iPod deletes files from iPod perfectly, and retrieve the files without problem.
The only problem that i have, it's that ml_iPod copy less files than in the playlist. (i has created a lot of "F" folders and nothings happen) :(

What it's the problem here?

Sorry for the PM.

Ok, I bought a Shuffle yesterday, and I will state for the record this plugin "ROCKS"

It did take me 30 min to get music to upload (using my ME Laptop) but after biting the bullet and reading the directions (go figure) It worked, though I also formatted the shuffle in the plugins conf section.

(BTW if will is reading I'm not griping it's just a FYI in the event you don't know, but the eject buttons and sync buttons don't seem to have any effect under ME) It's no biggie though as it works great!! ;)

Thanks for making it available

packard i have the exact same problem that you have,I own a shuffle and I have the same issue copying more than 3 files at once. I've read somewhere that you should format your iPod using the ml-ipod plugin. I really haven't tried it because I'm truly affraid that if that doesn't work, then the iPod will remain unusable. I really want to ask will or someone who knows what can I do in order to fix this issue, I really don't wanna use Itunes anymore. Greetings!

Thanks Webjac, but I don't format iPod (because I think the same about formating iPods)
I make the F01 to F24 folders !!! (like Will said in this topic)...but don't work..
when I select 200 files.. at first time.. only copy 1 or 2 files... and then y next try, don't copy anymore files... it's strange.
I hope in next versions this bug will be fixed.

Will, if you are reading this... please.. check this other post:
NEW "SHUFFLE PLAYLISTS" FEATURE FOR NEXT VERSION (i have an idea to make playlist for iPod Shuffles) :D
If you think that I was doing something wrong, please.. tell me what I need to do to use this plugin. Thankss!!!

Create directories F00 to F19 (not F01 to F24) and try again. Also, "formatting" your ipod with the ml_ipod plugin should be without problems.

will 6th May 2005 13:04

Well i fixed this in 1.14. It should be creating the directorys when you send a song (if they don't exist).

Yeah yeah i heard you the first time on this.

I'm thinking of having a "Set as main playlist" right-click option for playlists.
