Best Forum Software for Website
Heyya,
I'm looking to add a Forum to my website, and I wanted to get your thoughts on what's the best software is. How would you compate phpBB to vBulletin to any other forum software? Thanks so much for your help, rg. |
Id go for phpBB :)
|
This really doesn't belong in the shoutcast section I'm afraid.
|
... PunBB is by far some of the best software I have found. phpBB is too full of holes for me.

VBulletin costs money, so I say phpBB (and it's easy to add mods to). There's also Invision Board, but I've never really liked it... (maybe that explains why I haven't been to Pabook in awhile)

http://www.phpbbserver.com/ excellent service so far

phpBB or PunBB. phpBB has a few more features, PunBB is a bit nicer in a couple of usability ways. Use whichever you prefer!

Hey,
Thanks for your replies...which would you say has the largest following/community? That's often most important for support and updates. Thanks again, rg. |

Invision? :|

Invisionboard costs money, but you get a free version if you download php-dev. If there is no forums with the new versions of php-dev, I've got the old installation-file. Supports Win9X/ME and 2000/XP. And it includes a really bad version of Invisionboard.... which I had a really really hard time to customize.
I'd go phpBB if I were you. It's free, and it's free, and it's free and it's good. phpBB is what you use whern you're here at the winamp forums. |
You could also set up your whole site to use Drupal and use its in-built forum ;)
|
vBulletin i find is much more user friendly, and makes the interface much better to look at.
|
vBulletin ain't free, it's worth noting though. It's a pretty good "pure forum" software though, although it's apparently designed for larger forums.
