deeder7001 4th June 2005 08:14

i use MSN and Yahoo. i didn't like Trillian much.

d0rk 4th June 2005 08:30

GAIM

deeder7001 4th June 2005 08:42

i just checked out Trillian. i like it so far. i probably won't stick with it for long though.

Spazz333 4th June 2005 09:37

I only use MSN so I don't really see a point in getting Trillian or any of those. I love the Messenger Plus addon though, the floating contact buttons kick ass.

siebe83 4th June 2005 10:48

I hardly use IM programs. If I do, it's MSN, just because most of the people I know use it.
Years ago we all used ICQ, but something went wrong somewhere...

ICQ is the reason I don't use any IM.... It was just a big Security hole....

tuckerm 4th June 2005 11:29

i hated trillion because when i would change my screen name it wouldnt show up on there...also the display pics are uber small in there so im a big fan of msn.

zootm 4th June 2005 11:31

MSN, Jabber and Skype. MSN and Skype I use the official clients (although I've patched the MSN one to take the ads out), and Jabber I use Pandion.

sgtfuzzbubble011 4th June 2005 13:45

Trillian.

morgado 4th June 2005 14:34

For IRC I use mIRC and for MSN, ICQ and Yahoo I use Gaim

SSJ4 Gogitta 4th June 2005 15:00

AIM for AIM
Trillian for MSN, Yahoo, ICQ
mIRC for IRC

protegechris 4th June 2005 15:43

Trillian 3 Pro, for the simple fact I need to have 3 accounts signed onto AIM, MSN, and YIM at any time :p

Kieran Walker 4th June 2005 15:48

I used to use Trillian for IRC, but updating to v3 kind of killed it (I don't know what the hell happened--the thing was horribly laggy and bugged out, so I uninstalled it ten minutes later). Now using mIRC for IRC, and DeadAIM for AIM (tabbed IMs and no ads = <3).

dlinkwit27 4th June 2005 15:55

well I have been using gaim, but I am trying trillian right now. I wish it had an option to just be skinned by the VS :( Other than that it's pretty nice. It can actually direct conenct and stuff

NJK 4th June 2005 16:07

Me--> trillian
Mrs--> msn messenger
Son--> MirandaIM
backup messenger just in case --> Gaim

Cylob 4th June 2005 21:19

--> Soulseek <--

Vie 5th June 2005 00:00

Kompete - it tends to work.

MidnightViper88 5th June 2005 00:07

AIM, primarily...

I used to use YIM as well, but not anymore, since not very many people are on anymore...I'll still log on weekends when I'm at my dad's house, for no reason, though (I'm surprised people still wanna talk to me, a "dead" person, on there anyway)...

ScorLibran 5th June 2005 03:08

I use only MSN Messenger. I've boycotted all other chat clients on my PC. Not because I don't like any others, but a while back I had four or five chat clients installed, and I got tired of giving them the resource overhead they required to be running all the time. So I've chosen one chat program and told everyone that this is the only one I'll use. All my friends also use MSN-M, though, so I haven't "lost anyone" in this decision.

When I was using several chat clients, I used Trillian to have them all integrated into one interface. I liked Trillian a lot, except for a problem getting it to connect to ICQ (which I never got resolved). But now that I use only one chat client, I have no need or desire to install yet another program on my PC as a "wrapper" for one other program.

psycho_maniac 5th June 2005 03:19

i use msn mostly for my friends. the only reason i use yahoo is for my family. they hate yahoo and all my family memebers mostly have yahoo. i used to use trillian till i got my new pc. its ok but most people on my list dont have trillian so the cool stuff dotn work. i just use msnplus which works great for me.

Guest232 5th June 2005 13:36

Trillian, but only for msn. I have hated the msn messenger ever since version 5. 4.7 r0xx0red but trillian r0xx0rz even more.

PulseDriver 5th June 2005 13:56

I use Trillian for IRC and MSN, though I could use it for ICQ too, as I have some friends there as well, but I haven't talked to them the last year lol, so right now I see no use.

cyu 5th June 2005 14:33

Trillian Tres.

PulseDriver 5th June 2005 14:45

Tres.?

mysterious_w 5th June 2005 15:50

Tres = 3 (in spanish?)

PulseDriver 5th June 2005 16:02

Uno, Dos, Tres, Quatro?

mysterious_w 5th June 2005 16:06

That would be it, yeah. Enrique Englai(how the hell do you spell his last name) taught me something, wow.

PulseDriver 5th June 2005 16:07

The avatar in Trillian is skin dependant, there are skins which you can choose both your own and the participants avatarsizes independantly.

The default skin is however lame with this. I am going to make a skin which suits me better, and the avatars is one of the things I am going to change.

I think I am going to buy Pro too.

Sandman2012 5th June 2005 16:09

Gaim for MSN and Jabber protocols, Skype for Skype, HydraIRC for IRC.

I just upgraded to v3 about a week ago, and the new version does seem good, but as you say the skin is a bit naff. (not that I'm worried about avatar size, as mine is the same as on here, and probably looks awful any bigger!). Any recommendations for a better skin, as lots of the ones I've tried are equally crap.!

Sandman2012 5th June 2005 17:48

I think Trillian is a great program, but the inability to turn off the Skinning and "Snap to screen edges" features pushed me to look for something different. I like MirandaIM, but I'm gonna wait 'til it's a little more mature.
