Digital Signal Processors

What's the best "sound enhancer" plug-in for WinAmp 5.08?
I've heard pros and cons for DFX (from fxsound) and Dee2.
Thank you.

There's no "best sound enhancer plug-in" for Winamp, imho. It all depends on your own taste (and maybe your hardware plays a small role too). Just pick the plug-in from which you think it sounds the best. :)

i actually believe those sound enhancer plugins are terrible. you are distorting the true sound of the music. there is the winamp EQ which can always be used and have the same effect. remember, any dsp settings are what sounds good to another and not to you.

take into account what you are playing ur music back on. if it is fifteen dollar computer speakers, dsp is gonna have no effect. if ur playing it back on a $5,000 home theater system like me, why distort the signal before it arrives at the receiver. my receiver has dsp like settings and its own EQ if i want to change certain aspects of the sound.

so what is it that you are trying to accomplish to start? second, what are you playing back on? lastly, what box are you running on? since a dsp plugin can severly slow your box.

I simply want to extract several songs from a downloaded Winamp file--an hour Internet radio
show--and burn them to a cd.
The files are encoded at a low bit rate, and the sound isn't going to be too hot, but I can live with that.

But how should I proceed, and in what order?--
convert to .wav files
use WinAmp EQ...and/or
re-encode the files (at a higher bitrate)

off topic but:
use the diskwriter plugin to write the songs you want to wav then convert them to mp3. more than likely, it will sound like crap, but u already knew that so good luck.
